The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is accepting applications to Improving Conditions in Educational Centers for Strengthen the Resilience of the School Community and Prevent Diseases Derived from the Lack of Adequate Services ASH in 45 schools (lot 1) Sacapulas, Quiché
When girls and boys are provided with access to safe water, sanitation, and adequate facilities for the development of hygiene practices in educational units, they have a favorable environment to study, learn, and develop their full potential, while also providing more opportunities for girls to attend classes during their menstrual period.
To ensure that girls and boys from 45 schools in the municipality of Sacapulas (Lot 1) have access to a school environment that contributes to improving their health and education through adequate drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene services, as well as the promotion of hygiene, health, and menstrual hygiene.
Focus Areas
- The strategic focus of this call for proposals is consistent with the fulfillment of UNICEF’s core commitments to children (CCCs), the UNICEF Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Strategy 2016-2030, and is included in the UNICEF Guatemala Country Program Document (CPD 2022-2025), which establishes among its priorities and partnerships the promotion of increasing the proportion of schools with basic sanitation services.
- At the same time, the proposed actions are explicitly aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the targets defined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) associated with inclusive and effective learning environments for all, as well as contributing to universal access to WASH and affordable energy, which includes institutional settings such as schools.
