Deadline: 10-Jan-22
The U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar announces a call for proposals from potential implementing partners for the 2022-2023 English Access Micro-scholarship Program.
The purpose of this program is to provide economically disadvantaged youth with an opportunity to learn English language skills and enhance leadership through teaching the basics of American culture and values of democratic development and civic engagement.
English Access Micro-scholarship program must provide two years of English study, consisting of at least 360 hours of intensive, after-school, and weekend programming. The program should consist of English language courses as well as out-of-classroom activities and enhancement elements.
English Access Micro-scholarship Program proposals should also include intensive summer sessions at the end of each school year. These sessions are an important activity to supplement and/or conclude a student’s two-year English language programming.
The sessions should be a minimum of one week long and may incorporate into their activities native and non-native English speaking partners in a summer camp format.
The goal of the Access Program is to prepare students who have a minimal knowledge of English, with effective communication and critical thinking skills through meaningful interaction, cooperative learning strategies, and real-life contexts. They hope these skills will lead to better jobs, educational opportunities, and the ability to participate in and compete for future exchanges and study in the United States.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for consideration, every applicant must be currently engaged in an English language teaching program. Non-governmental organizations are eligible to apply for this program. Service providers from remote areas of Mongolia are encouraged to apply.
