The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced a new opportunity for organizations to collaborate in providing life-saving food and nutrition assistance, as well as school meal support, for refugees and crisis-affected populations across Ethiopia.
The initiative aims to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities while improving access to safe and nutritious food in regions such as Afar, Amara, Benshangul-Gumaz, Gambela Peoples, Oromia, Somali, and other parts of the country.
This call for Expression of Interest focuses on addressing the urgent needs of food-insecure and displaced populations, particularly those living in refugee camps. The program emphasizes equitable access to nutritious food before, during, and after shocks, ensuring that affected individuals—especially children and adolescents—can live healthier and more dignified lives.
The WFP’s approach goes beyond emergency food assistance by integrating nutrition, education, and health support. Through this initiative, refugee children will benefit from safe, nutritious school meals that help improve enrolment, attendance, and learning outcomes. At the same time, families will receive nutrition-sensitive resource transfers designed to meet essential needs and enhance access to livelihood opportunities.
The project also aims to build stronger partnerships with local and national government institutions, empowering them to deliver better quality services for refugees and host communities alike. By improving coordination among various sectors, WFP seeks to promote social cohesion, reduce inequalities, and foster long-term stability.
This opportunity reflects WFP’s continued commitment to addressing food insecurity, malnutrition, and educational challenges among displaced and vulnerable populations in Ethiopia. Interested organizations are encouraged to engage in this important effort to help strengthen community resilience and support the path toward sustainable recovery.
