A Chance for Cambodians to get USD $3,000 for their Creative Projects

The CATA:LIST Seed Grant has partnered with SHE Investments to offer talented Cambodian artists and cultural practitioners who are getting started in their career a chance to develop creative initiatives.

The aim of the CATA:LIST Seed Grant is to help kick-start arts programs and projects, and to aid formalisation of their operations. These grants are for new projects that are in their early stages, and in need of a financial boost to help them develop into a sustainable project which will deliver impact.

The CATA:LIST Seed Grant is managed by Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF). The CATA:LIST Seed Grant is aimed at new or emerging artists:

For individual or groups still in their initial years of formation, the grant aims to help them move towards a more stable development as a professional artists.
For emerging artists the grant aims to support their transition to a professional practice.

Priorities Area

Applicants should demonstrate a track record (or future plans) to work with beneficiary groups in at least one of the following priority areas;

Impoverished Children and Youth
Girls and Young Women
Rural Communities

There are two categories of CATA:LIST Seed Grants:

Arts education
Artist development

Budget and Duration

CATA:LIST is a competitive grant-giving program. The maximum grant size for each seed grant is USD $3,000 (Three thousands US Dollars). They believed this is a reasonable budget for a small art project implemented in Cambodia over one year period.
The proposed project must be implemented from 1 September 2019 and completed by 31 August 2020. They expect to award five seed grants over 2019 grant cycle.

Eligibility Criteria

The CATA:LIST Seed Grant supports Cambodian based creative projects and is intended for Cambodian nationals, or to impact the professional development of Cambodian nationals.
Eligible applicants will work in the arts, defined as: architecture, design and fashion, film, music, dance and theatre, creative economy, cultural skills, literature, visual arts, and any combination of art forms.
They are keen to hear from female artists, artists that incorporate digital technology within their practice and artists who are experimenting with traditional art forms. However, these are not overriding factors for selecting grantees and all emerging artists are encouraged to apply if they match the eligibility criteria.
A project for the development of a specific piece of work/production will not be considered eligible. However, although grants will not be given solely for the set up and implementation of a show/production of work, priority will be given to projects that include or culminate in a show/ exhibition, art class, piece of work that is integrated into the fabric of the people or community in some way, shape and/or form.
