The Amazon Web Services (AWS) IMAGINE Grant opportunity is now open to registered nonprofit organisations who are using cloud technology to accelerate their missions.
The goal is to empower nonprofit organisations to prioritise technology as a mission-critical component of their projects and provide support for organisations pursuing technology-driven goals. As part of the program, they are seeking proposals for pilot projects, proofs of concept, or existing programs that utilise technology in a new or expanded way.
AWS IMAGINE Grant award category
- The AWS IMAGINE Grant offers one distinct award category for United Kingdom nonprofit organisations with active registered charity number status to receive support based on their organisational goals and the stage in their technology adoption journeys. As part of the program, they are seeking proposals from eligible nonprofits that fit the requirements below:
- The Go Further, Faster Award
- The Go Further, Faster award will provide support for highly innovative projects that leverage the cloud. These projects will have the potential to produce scaled, repeatable solutions and may impact an entire industry or field. They will be force multipliers for organisations and will include the application of and/or seek integrations with advanced cloud services, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), high performance computing, (HPC), Internet of Things (IoT), and more. The Go Further, Faster Award includes cash funding, AWS Promotional Credits, Amazon Web Services (AWS) marketing support, engagement with AWS technical specialists, and more.
AWS IMAGINE Grant award packages include
- Cash funding
- Funding to support project implementation.
- AWS Promotional Credit
- AWS Promotional Credit to offset costs associated with launching winning project workloads on AWS.
- Access to AWS technical specialists
- Work with AWS experts and leverage partners to bring your project to life on AWS.
- Opportunity for AWS marketing promotion
- Share your story and inspire other nonprofit leaders to use cloud technology for the greater good.
- Award package includes:
- Up to $50,000 USD of financial support
- Up to $16,000 USD in AWS Promotional Credit
- Project kickoff workshop and implementation support from AWS technical specialist(s)
- An opportunity for AWS marketing promotion
- Note: Amazon Web Services (AWS) reserves the right to determine actual awarded amounts at its sole discretion.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nonprofit organizations based in the United Kingdom are eligible to apply. AWS IMAGINE Grant is provided and administered through Amazon Web Service EMEA Sarl for EMEA-based applicants of this program.
- Organizations with annual budgets of any size may apply for this program. AWS welcomes all causes and mission areas to apply, including nonprofit healthcare providers and credit unions. Educational institutions and select healthcare institutions are excluded. These institutions are currently outside of the AWS IMAGINE Grant priority funding areas.
- They are in the process of expanding the grant program globally, but currently the program is only available to customers headquartered in the United Kingdom.
- Organizations who have applied and not been awarded an IMAGINE Grant are welcome to apply again.
- Each organization may only submit one application per award cycle.
- They are not accepting applications for the AWS IMAGINE Grant from the following types of institutions at this time:
- Primary or secondary schools;
- Colleges and universities;
Criteria
AWS will judge proposals based on factors that include:
- Innovative and unique nature of the project
- Impact on mission-critical goals
- Clearly defined outcomes
- Succinctly defined milestones
- Detailing and applicability of AWS services within the project scope
- Viability of proposed sustainability plan
- Comprehensiveness of applicant’s proposal and information requested
- Submission of proposal in correct format and within the deadline
Ineligible
- Round two applications accepted (by invitation only): August 15 — September 15, 2023
- Awards announced and distributed: December 2023
- Grant term begins: January 1, 2024 — December 31, 2024
