The American Psychological Foundation has launched the applications for APF/Division 39 Grant to support efforts in education, research, and service that advance and encourage the field of psychoanalysis.
The Marsha D. McCary Division 39 Fund for Psychoanalysis, named for the Fund’s founder, gives annual grants to recognize and promote the contributions of psychoanalysis to psychology and to societal well-being more generally.
Through the annual grants, Division 39 seeks to advance psychoanalysis by supporting new developments in education, research and service that demonstrate the value of psychoanalytic principles and treatments to the public. Learn more about Division 39. The 2023 preference will be given to applications that increase public awareness of the benefits of psychoanalytic principles and treatments.
Funding Information
- One grant of up to $10,000 is available.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have a demonstrated knowledge of psychoanalytic principles;
- May be a practicing psychoanalytic therapist, but this is not a requirement;
- Demonstrates interest in communicating to the public the value of psychoanalytic principles and/or treatments.
- Must agree that, if awarded a grant, they will give a follow-up report to the Evaluation Committee on the use and impact of the grant.
Evaluation Criteria
- Proposals will be evaluated on:
- Impact of proposed project in increasing public awareness of the value of psychoanalytic principles and treatments,
- Quality, viability and promise of project, and
- Impact of the grant funds on the overall project.
Proposal Requirements
- Please include the following in a single document (not to exceed five pages, one-inch margins, 11-point Times New Roman/Garamond font, single space):
- Clear and explicit description of the project’s relevance to the grant criteria
- An outline or sample of the content of the project
