The Charitable Arts Foundation is accepting grant applications to support endeavors in arts and culture throughout The Bahamas.
The Charitable Arts Foundation (CAF) is now accepting online applications for its grant program dedicated to supporting artistic and cultural endeavors in The Bahamas. Grants typically range between US $3,000 and US $5,000, although higher amounts may be awarded in exceptional cases. Applications can be submitted at any time throughout the year and are reviewed quarterly, with notifications issued by March 10, June 10, September 10, or January 10, depending on when the application was submitted.
Eligible applicants include Bahamian citizens, permanent residents, Bahamian organizations, and international entities whose work offers significant cultural benefit to The Bahamas. The grant supports a wide variety of artistic disciplines, such as fine art, dance, theatre, music, film, writing, curating, and design. Supported activities may include creative projects conducted within The Bahamas, tertiary educational programs at accredited institutions (typically for students in their third year), participation in short courses or workshops either locally or abroad, and involvement in international cultural events that promote Bahamian heritage.
Individual applicants are evaluated based on their artistic or professional achievements—such as exhibitions, performances, publications, or festival engagements—as well as the merit and expected impact of their proposed project. The Foundation does not fund legal fees, personal travel unrelated to the proposed project, or any past debts.
Applicants must clearly outline their project’s scope, its relevance to their personal development and the Bahamian cultural landscape, and their qualifications to undertake it. A detailed budget must also be submitted, including the total cost of the project, the amount requested from CAF, and any additional funding sources.
Applications are to be submitted exclusively through the Foundation’s online portal. Required documents include a CV or artist résumé. Those applying for educational grants must also provide an acceptance letter from their academic institution. Visual artists may upload up to five recent images (JPG, maximum 2 MB each) representing work completed in the past 10 years, along with an accompanying list that identifies each piece.
Decisions made by the CAF Grants Committee are final. Applicants are allowed to submit multiple applications within the year, but all submissions must be made through the official online platform. Mailed or emailed applications will not be accepted.
