Applications are now open for the programme “Digital Economy (DE) NetworkPlus” to support up to five ‘NetworkPlus’ grants to allow development of DE research and communities in key emerging areas of national importance.
The DE Theme seeks to rapidly realise the transformational impact of digital technologies on aspects of community life, cultural experiences, future society, and the economy. It seeks to bring together researchers in ICT, mathematical sciences, engineering, social sciences, economics, arts and humanities with stakeholders in different application domains to create digital technologies, platforms and solutions that are designed with and for users of the digital technology.
Aims
The aims of these NetworkPlus awards will be to:
- Bring together experts from across all relevant research disciplines and stakeholders, building new communities or creating new links between different existing communities
- Bring focus to the relevant research area, identifying research challenges, opportunities and priorities
- Support initial testing of new ideas and kick-start new collaborations
- Build pathways to impact.
Funding Information
- The Digital Economy Theme would like to support up to five ‘NetworkPlus’ grants, and there is up to £5.0M available in total.
- Awards will be made for between 36-48 months’ duration.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Organisations:
- All UK Higher Education Institutions that receive grant funding from one of the UK higher education funding bodies are eligible to receive funds for research, postgraduate training and associated activities.
- These bodies consist of Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), Scottish Funding Council (SFC) and Department for Employment and Learning Northern Ireland (DEL).
- Eligible Investigators:
- Investigators must be academic employees (lecturer or equivalent) of an eligible organisation and must be resident in the UK.
- Any fellows holding fellowships aimed primarily at the postdoctoral level are not eligible to apply.
- EPSRC fellows, Royal Society fellows and Royal Academy of Engineering fellows holding fellowships aimed at later career stages are eligible to apply.
