Deadline: 15 September 2017
LandAid Charitable Trust is seeking applications for its grant program 2017 with an aim to bring about lasting change by helping tackle the causes of youth homelessness and contributing to the provision of safe supported housing for those who need it most.
Areas of Interest
- On-site construction training and/or apprenticeships for unemployed young people
- On-site volunteering opportunities for local unemployed people
- Specifications in the building work to benefit future tenants. E.g. the renovations involve energy conservation and efficiency measures, and also building work to minimise long term maintenance issues in older properties (e.g. condensation).
Grant Strands
- Renovation: existing properties in need of refurbishment which will provide accommodation, support, and in some cases training, for young people who have been or are at risk of becoming homeless. This could be improvements for current run-down accommodation premises, or a building you plan to purchase or lease that needs to be refurbished and converted into fit for purpose accommodation for young people. Any existing building is eligible, including, but not exclusively, long-term empty properties (empty for over six months).
- New buildings: new safe, secure and affordable accommodation for young people who are experiencing homelessness. Designed and built using traditional methods on site or using modular or ‘precision’ construction off site in factories.
Grant Information
- Applicants can apply for grants up to £75,000 to part fund or fully fund building work.
- LandAid expects to award grants of average £50,000, these grants will be awarded in batches from December 2017 to December 2018.
