Applications are now open for the Meta Data Center Community Action Grants
The Data Center Community Action Grants are one of many ways that Meta gives back to communities where they have an operational data center. These grants support projects that address critical community needs by:
- Putting the power of technology to use for community benefit
- Giving people the power to build strong, sustainable communities
- Improving local science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) education

- United States
- Arizona, Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia
- Europe
- Denmark, Ireland, Sweden
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible organizations
- Grant applications will be accepted by eligible organizations in communities where Meta has an operational data center.
- In the United States, registered nonprofit organizations as per the program’s terms and conditions and public schools are eligible for grants. Schools are encouraged to notify the superintendent of desired grants to ensure the most competitive and feasible applications are submitted.
- In Europe, registered not for profit organizations and government entities (including state-run schools and municipalities) are eligible for grants.
- Organizations that meet the following requirements are eligible to apply to the Grant
- Organizations with upcoming projects to be delivered within the designated area that do one or more of the following to address critical community needs by:
- Putting the power of technology to use for community benefit
- Giving people the power to build strong, sustainable communities; or
- Improving local science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) education;
- The applicant must be an organization created for charitable purposes and registered and/or recognized as one of the following in their local jurisdiction.
- A registered charitable organization as defined by the United States Internal Revenue Service, which includes registered 501(c)(3) organizations, public charities, public schools, government entities, US towns and municipalities, etc.
- A registered not-for-profit organization (voluntary organization) in Denmark in accordance with the Tax Assessment Act & 8A or a public institution, including state-run schools, municipalities, etc.
- A registered not-for-profit organization in Ireland, as defined in Section 2 of the Charities Act 2009 (excluding organizations that operate exclusively for religious purposes), a Company Limited by Guarantee (as defined in Companies Act of 2014), or a government entity, which includes state-run schools, municipalities, etc.
- A registered charity (allmännyttig ideell förening) in Sweden or a government entity, which includes state-run schools, municipalities, etc.
- Must have valid local governmental registration as of the date of application and throughout the time of use of the Grant.
- Organizations with upcoming projects to be delivered within the designated area that do one or more of the following to address critical community needs by:
Ineligibility Criteria
- Must not:
- Be programs and/or projects operated exclusively for religious purposes or proselytizing;
- Discriminate in employment based on any of the following: gender, marital status, family status, sexual orientation, religious belief or lack of belief, age, disability, or race including nationality (or membership of the Traveller community);
- Discriminate in the provision of goods and services, accommodation, or education based on any of the following: gender, marital status, family status, sexual orientation, religious belief or lack of belief, age, disability, or race including nationality (or membership of the Traveller community).
Requirements
- Applicant Content must meet the following requirements, as determined by the Program Entities in their sole discretion:
- Applications must be truthful and accurate;
- Applications must not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any rights of any third party including, without limitation, rights of privacy or publicity; and
- Applicants may only include content about persons or entities from whom the organization has all necessary permissions and rights, including, if applicable, permission from any referenced or depicted minor’s parent or legal guardian. You agree to provide the Program Entities with written confirmation and/or documentation proving such permissions and rights upon request
