The National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) invites interested persons to submit project ideas to be considered for funding under the Universal Service Fund (USF).
The priority goal for the operating year is to “Expand access to telecommunication services and broadband internet services to underserved communities, special interest groups, and institutions serving the public needs.”
Purpose
- The National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) in accordance with the Telecommunications Act 31 of 2000 is responsible for the management of the Universal Service Fund to support the development of the telecommunications sector in Grenada in the interest of social, educational, and economic development.
Priority Areas
- Expansion of broadband network with emphasis on the rural unserved and underserved communities
- Promote affordable access to broadband internet service to individual with special needs, elderly, or low-income family
- Promote access to telecommunications services within institutions serving the public needs (e.g. schools, hospitals)
Eligible Projects
- All proposed projects must:
- Fall within the scope of the Universal Service Fund, which includes:
- Public voice telephony
- Internet access
- Telecommunication services to schools, hospitals, and similar institution
- Other service by which persons can access an efficient and affordable modern telecommunications network
- Fall within the priority goal of the Fund
- Address one or more of the priority areas.
- Be self-sustaining such that it continues to expand access to telecoms on its own initiative.
Eligibility Criteria
- The invitation to submit project proposals is open to the general public, including telecommunication providers, government ministries, and non-government organizations.
