Celebration sites
- Funding is available for 3 different categories of celebration sites:
- Feature Sites – at least 3 days during September and funding available up to $10,000
- Host Sites – at least 2 days during September and funding available up to $5,000
- Pop Up Sites – at least 1 day during September and funding available up to $1,000
- Celebration sites must:
- provide culturally-related programming during the month of September
- ensure all events and activities funded through the grant are free
- provide a budget outlining estimated revenues (including in-kind and leveraged funds) and expenses
- provide an outline as to how you are going to market your event
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible organizations must have an Alberta-based address which must be regularly monitored by an active member of the organization.
- The following non-profit organizations who are registered (and in good standing) under one of the following Acts are eligible to apply for funding.
- Provincial legislation (Alberta)
- Agricultural Societies Act
- Part 21 of the Business Corporations Act- Extra-Provincial Corporations
- Companies Act, Part 9 (Nonprofit Companies)
- Libraries Act
- Societies Act of Alberta
- Special Act of the Alberta Legislature
- Federal Legislation
- Special Act of the Parliament of Canada
- CanadaNot-for-profit Corporations Act and must be registered in Alberta under the Business Corporations Act
- Income Tax Act (of Canada and operating in the Province of Alberta (Charities))
- Indigenous and post-secondary
- First Nation or Metis Settlement in Alberta
- a university, college, or institute as defined under Alberta’s Post-Secondary Learning Act
- Provincial legislation (Alberta)
Ineligibility Criteria
- Municipalities are not eligible for funding but are encouraged to partner with an organization that meets the funding criteria. The organization who meets the criteria will then act as the fiscal agent for the grant.
