The Auckland Council is inviting applications for the Waitematā Quick Response Grant in New Zealand.
Types of projects funded by the grant
Funding Priorities
- They welcome grant applications that align to the following priorities:
- Provide spaces and places that enable their diverse communities to connect, and feel welcome.
- Ensure all members of the community have access to shelter and warmth.
- Empower their communities by supporting community-led initiatives.
- Encourage access to and participation in local events and arts activities.
- Ensure their communities have opportunities to lead active and healthy lifestyles.
- Ensure their parks, open spaces and recreation facilities meet the needs of their current and future residents.
- Deliver high-quality facilities that encourage active and healthy lifestyles.
- Improve air and water quality and the health of their waterways.
- Support Waitematā being a low carbon community.
- Increase the urban forest and enhance biodiversity.
- People have adopted low carbon lifestyles and live sustainably.
- Empower their communities to enhance their resilience to disasters and the impact of climate change.
- Regenerate their natural areas to enhance biodiversity.
- Identify and protect places with heritage and distinctive character.
- Reinforce neighbourhood character and improve town centres.
- Improve the accessibility and connectivity of the transport network.
- Improve safety for all road users.
- Support their business associations to drive local growth and innovation.
- Empower and support start-up businesses and social enterprises.
- Increase the prosperity of their town centres.
- A strong and healthy international education sector.
- Higher priority for eligibility
- Waitematā Local Board will prioritise applications that address:
- Inequality and lack of opportunity.
- Community action for climate change.
- Community action on environmental and biodiversity issues.
- Empowering women and girls.
- Smoke-free programmes and events.
- Sustainable solutions for homelessness.
- Waste minimisation.
- Waitematā Local Board will prioritise applications that address:
- Lower priority for eligibility
- Waitematā Local Board will also consider applications for other services, projects, events and activities that may be considered a lower priority on a case-by-case basis.
- Waitematā Local Board has identified the following as lower priorities:
- Activities that primarily benefit communities outside the Waitematā area.
- Commercial entities and promotion of commercial entities.
- Operational costs including wages and salaries, with the exception of fees for professional services.
- Prizes.
- Travel expenses, including vehicle expenses.
- Ticketed events.
Funding Information
- Grant value: $300 – $3000.

- Their grants programme will support the following outcomes:
- Inclusive communities that are vibrant, healthy and connected.
- Attractive and versatile public places that meet their communities’ needs.
- The natural environment is valued, protected and enhanced.
- A high-quality, built environment that embraces their heritage.
- An accessible, connected and safe transport network with well-designed streets.
- An innovative, productive and resilient local economy.
Eligibility Criteria
- In addition to the eligibility criteria outlined in the Community Grants Policy, Waitematā Local Board will not fund:
- Applicants requesting more than the maximum grant amount.
- Liquor licenses.
- Private entertainment.
- Purchase of vehicles (other significant asset purchases may also be declined).
- Past grant recipients who have not provided a satisfactory accountability report.
- Note: Applicants can only apply for the same project or activity once in a financial year to Waitematā Local Board.
