The Australian Embassy in Mongolia is currently accepting applications from eligible organisations for its Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2017-18 to contribute towards economic growth and poverty reduction.
Priority Sectors
- Health, with a focus on community health, combating communicable diseases, cancer, emergency medicine and facilitating medical services for minorities
- Agriculture and rural development focused on diversification of livelihoods, extending growing seasons and facilitating public-private partnerships
- Gender equality and women’s empowerment, focusing on women in leadership, ending violence and protecting women and children
- Education, with a particular focus on access for disadvantaged children and children with special needs.
- Youth empowerment in remote/poor communities
- Good governance, including strengthening non-government organisations, media and peak industry/sectoral groups.
- Human rights focusing on empowering minorities and eliminating discrimination
- The environment focused on practical improvement in air and/or water and /or land pollution
- Humanitarian assistance
- Disaster prevention and response
Funding Information
- DAP will select a mix of single-year projects and two-year projects. Projects with a one-year duration should be in the range of $10,000 to a maximum of $30,000. Projects with a duration of 2-financial years should be in the range of $20,000 to a maximum of $60,000, with a maximum of $30,000 per year.
- DAP activities will be limited to a maximum duration of two financial years (final completion and full financial acquittal must be no later than 30 June 2019), no extensions will be provided beyond the two-year limit.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications will be considered from individuals, community groups, the private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), local government agencies or other not-for-profit organisations.
- International organisations are not eligible to apply directly but are welcome to form partnerships with local NGOs or other organisations. All applications must demonstrate that they are not-for-profit.
- Projects that have received grants, or applied for grants, from other donors are not eligible for DAP funding, unless
- the DAP funding is for a stand-alone component of a broader activity that is explicitly excluded from other sources of funding
- the DAP funding seeks to build a strategic partnership that enhances the sustainability and impact of the activity.
- Microcredit schemes, purchase of land and vehicles, recurrent costs including staff salary and non-related administrative expenses, commercial ventures and activities with direct support from government are not eligible for DAP funding.
