The British Embassy in Baghdad has announced a call for bids for the “Bringing Daesh to Justice Initiative”.
The programme has three complementary objectives:
- to support national and international justice efforts
- to recognise and address the harm suffered by victims of Daesh crimes
- and through the pursuit of justice, unite communities – local national and international
The programme is seeking high impact project bids in support of the campaign, initially in Iraq. The available funding is part of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Global Britain Fund.
Funding Information
The programme is seeking individual projects of between £300,000 and £500,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bids are welcome from civil society, including NGOs, think tanks, and UN offices, agencies, funds and programmes.
- The programme is looking for projects that help deliver one or more of the following objectives:
- Collecting and preserving evidence of Daesh crime
- Capacity building for organisations and the government of Iraq to collect, consolidate, preserve and analyse evidence of Daesh crimes so it is court-ready in line with international standards.
- Recognising and addressing the harm suffered by victims and survivors of Daesh crimes
- Survivors are educated on how they can access justice (what legal avenues exist and how these can be pursued).
- Survivors are provided with psychosocial and/or physical support to help them recover from the abuses they have endured and assist with the rebuilding of social structures.
- Survivors from different communities are brought together to build bridges between those with different backgrounds and religions including across borders.
- Collecting and preserving evidence of Daesh crime
