The Bupa UK Foundation is seeking applications for its grant program to support practical, community focused projects designed to help older carers to manage and improve their own health and wellbeing.
There are more than one million carers aged over 65 in the UK. It is estimated that carers aged over 70 provide more than 60 hours of care a week and that almost one in ten carers are aged over 85.
Funding Information
The maximum level of funding available for each grant awarded within this funding programme is £20,000. Applicant are advised to apply for the level of funding applicant think applicants project requires to the deliver the outputs and impact applicant outline in applicants application. Projects awarded funding from the Bupa UK Foundation automatically receive an uplift of 15% of the level of funding awarded as a contribution to core costs.
Eligibility Criteria
- A number of areas of work are not eligible for funding from the Bupa UK Foundation, specifically:
- work that does not fall within the scope of the Bupa UK Foundation’s charitable purposes
- work that is not clearly aligned with the stated funding priorities of a specific funding programme
- projects delivered outside the UK
- long-term projects and initiatives – they expect the vast majority of projects funded by the Bupa UK Foundation to be delivered within 12 to 18 months
- projects delivered by local authorities or housing associations
- work which might reasonably be eligible for funding from statutory bodies
- projects delivered by entities that are not formally or legally constituted, such as social clubs
- general awareness or information campaigns
- respite breaks or cover for respite breaks, day trips and holidays
- sponsorship of or attendance at meetings, events and conferences
- fundraising appeals, including requests for contributions to capital or equipment costs
- unrestricted funding for charities or other organisations
- educational bursaries or grants for university or postgraduate education, school trips or projects, gap year or elective year projects
- academic research, including funding for educational or research posts
- If applicant decide to apply, please ensure applicants application fits the following criteria:
- Applicants organisation can clearly evidence a track record of engaging, working with and supporting carers.
- Applicants project focuses on carers, rather than on those they care for. If carers are able to look after their own health, those they care for benefit too.
- Applicants project will support older carers (those aged over 65) directly and specifically.
- Applicants project aims to support or improve health and wellbeing. In applicants application applicant will need to outline the difference applicants project is likely to make to people’s health and wellbeing and how applicant intend to measure this.
