The U.S. Embassy Bratislava Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to Counter Disinformation in Slovakia through programming at the American Centers in Banska Bystrica and Kosice.
Program Objectives
- Through this NOFO, they are looking for one or two organizations or individuals who would organize capacity building or educational programs for teachers and/or students and/or seniors, or other relevant target groups to address Slovakia’s vulnerability to hybrid threats. The overall aim of the program is to strengthen Slovakia’s resilience to disinformation and public trust in democratic institutions. Activities shall take place at the American Centers as specified below and in coordination with the Centers’ representatives.
- The U.S. Embassy is overseeing American Centers in Banska Bystrica and Kosice, hosted by the:
- State Scientific Library in Banska Bystrica, Lazovna 9,
- State Scientific Library in Kosice, Hlavna 10, Kosice
- Eligible budget items include personnel costs, travel costs, supplies, contractual costs, and other justified direct costs as specified in part H of this NOFO. The overall budget for each American Center shall be $5,000 or $10,000 for both Centers.
Funding Information
- Length of performance period: 1 to 12 months
- Number of awards anticipated: 1 or 2 awards
- Award amounts: awards may range from a minimum of $5,000 to a maximum of $10,000
- Total available funding: $10,000
- Anticipated program start date: September 1, 2023 or later
- Activities shall be implemented between September 2023 and August 2024.
- Program Performance Period: Proposed programs should be completed in 13 months or less.
Participants and Audiences
- Teachers and/or students and/or seniors from Banska Bystrica region and Kosice region. Preferably, 50% of participants shall be women.
Priority Region: Banska Bystrica, Kosice
Eligibility Criteria
The following organizations from the Slovak Republic are eligible to apply:
- Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/nongovernmental organizations.
- Public educational institutions.
- Individuals.
- Public International Organizations and Governmental institutions.
