The Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF) is pleased to announce a Call for Concept Notes for projects focused on marine ecosystem restoration and conservation in Saint Lucia.
This call seeks to support initiatives that protect and rehabilitate vital marine habitats, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and promote sustainable use of marine resources. The Marine Health Alliance is made possible through the partnership between SLUNCF and SLHTA Tourism Enhancement Fund.
Objectives
- Projects must address two or more of the following objectives:
- Restoration of degraded marine ecosystems (e.g., coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds)
- Protection of marine biodiversity and critical species
- Reduction of marine pollution and improvement of coastal water quality
- Promotion of sustainable fisheries and alternative livelihoods
- Community awareness, education, and stakeholder engagement in marine conservation
- Climate resilience building in coastal and marine areas in Saint Lucia.
Funding Information
- Maximum Grant Amount: XCD 80,000 per project
- Project Timeline: Up to 15 months
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible applicants include:
- Local non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
- Community-based organisations (CBOs)
- Academic and research institutions based in Saint Lucia
- Private or public sector entities with a conservation focus
- Locally based organisations with a clear and direct benefit to Saint Lucia.
Evaluation Criteria
- Alignment with marine conservation priorities and SLUNCF’s mission
- Feasibility and technical soundness of the project approach
- Institutional capacity and experience of applicants in executing similar projects
- Environmental and socio-economic impact
- Cost-effectiveness and clarity of budget
- Community engagement and local capacity building
- Innovation and potential for replication or scale-up
- Sustainability beyond the life of the project
