The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute is seeking applications for its funding opportunity to support projects that include multi-party convenings, meetings and conferences which bring together communities of patients, families, caregivers and other members of the broader healthcare community.
Funding Tracks
- Organizations must propose one of the following tracks:
- Convening Around Patient-Centered CER. These projects facilitate discussion on research topics, prioritizing research questions and/or engagement plans for patient-centered CER.
- Convening Around Dissemination of PCORI-Funded Research Findings. These projects communicate results from eligible PCORI-funded studies to targeted audiences who will use the results through convening(s) as the primary method for active dissemination.
Focus Areas
- Convening Around Patient-Centered CER
- Convenings under this funding track, regardless of health topic, should include one or more of the following focus areas:
- Facilitating Discussion Around Development of Topics, Questions and/or Engagement Plans for Patient-Centered CER.
- Focuses on understanding and/or raising awareness of key issues in patient-centered CER engagement in the proposed topic area.
- Develops new engagement approaches for patient-centered CER in the proposed topic area.
- Explores potential topics for patient-centered CER with patients, families, caregivers and the broader healthcare community.
- Sharing Engagement Methods and Fostering Partnerships.
- Shares knowledge of effective and/or evidence-based engagement methods in patient-centered CER with wider audiences.
- Fosters multi-stakeholder collaborations by developing partnerships for future engagement in patient-centered CER.
- Explores new opportunities for knowledge transfer, dissemination and/or implementation of patient-centered CER.
- Convening Around the Life Cycle of Patient-Centered CER, Including Strategies for Dissemination.
- Shares information about population or condition-specific areas in the PCORI-funded research portfolio (active or completed) of relevance to the target audience to solicit feedback and suggestions for future patient-centered CER.
- Identifies PCORI-funded research findings for dissemination, develops strategies for future targeted dissemination and may include activities to identify additional research gaps uncovered from the review of current findings.
- Facilitating Discussion Around Development of Topics, Questions and/or Engagement Plans for Patient-Centered CER.
- Convenings under this funding track, regardless of health topic, should include one or more of the following focus areas:
- Convening Around Dissemination of PCORI-Funded Research Findings
- PCORI intends for Convening Around Dissemination of PCORI-funded Research Findings projects to communicate results from one or more eligible PCORI-funded studies — on its own or as part of the body of existing evidence relevant to the research findings external to PCORI — to targeted audiences who will use the results. Convening organizers must demonstrate how their proposed convening activities and audiences are essential to increasing the uptake of findings that could impact clinical practice.
Funding Information
- Award total costs may not exceed $125,000. The maximum budget includes all direct and indirect costs.
- Maximum Project Period: One year
Project Outputs
- Each convening must produce at least one deliverable that encourages project collaborators to take part in and/or disseminate patient-centered CER in the future.
- Examples of deliverables may include:
- Research agendas and/or prioritized research questions for patient-centered CER.
- Strategic plans and/or road maps for future patient-centered CER.
- Strategies/approaches for patients, families, caregivers and the broader healthcare community to engage in patient-centered CER after the project period.
- Summaries of research topics and priorities, including the processes used to identify and prioritize the information.
- Dissemination strategies with demonstrated success.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nonprofit and for-profit organizations may apply.
- U.S.-based applicants must have a Federal Employer Identification Number. This is assigned by the Internal Revenue Service.
- Applicants must demonstrate the capability to comply with the terms of the standard agreement associated with each PFA. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to review the standard agreement prior to application.
