The United Nations Development Program Small Grants Programme has announced Call for Project Proposals from Local Communities and NGOs.
The program provides grant support to small projects implemented directly by local communities, including NGOs, zhamaats and other public organizations, on such thematic priorities as biodiversity conservation, adaptation and mitigation of climate change impacts, prevention of land degradation and sustainable forest management, protection of the quality of international waters, reduction of chemical and household waste.
Aims
- Project proposals aimed at:
- Conservation of biodiversity and restoration of ecosystems in the coastal zone of Lake Issyk-Kul
- Support for traditional knowledge and practices that contribute to landscape conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. Environmental education.
- Enhancing the resilience of livelihoods and well-being of local communities
- Sustainable land and water management and social justice
Funding Information
- Maximum grant amount: US$50,000. The project budget must be in US dollars.
- You must provide your contribution or the contribution of partners equal to or greater than the grant amount. The applicants’ and their partners’ own contribution may be in the form of cash, goods and materials, works and services.
- And administrative expenses, such as staff salaries, office rent, communications, etc., should not exceed 20% of the requested grant amount from the GEF SGP.
Selection Criteria
- Project proposals will be assessed by the National Coordination Committee of the GEF SGP in Kyrgyzstan according to the following criteria:
- the uniqueness and innovativeness of the measures proposed in the project;
- confirmed potential of the applicant, as well as the partners and specialists involved, for the successful implementation of the project and achieving the required results.
- balance, integrity, validity and realism of the measures and approaches proposed in the project;
- sustainability of project results and impact;
- the validity and realism of the estimated costs indicated in the project budget;
- ensuring the participation of youth, women and persons with disabilities in the implementation of key project activities.
