The European Commission (EC) has launched this public call for proposals to support the activities of NGO networks in protecting and strengthening EU values is intended for formal and informal networks of NGOs in protecting and promoting fundamental rights and values of the European Union.
Networks of non-governmental organizations play an important role in protecting and promoting fundamental rights and values of the European Union, as by connecting and working together, NGOs strengthen the voice of citizens and ensure more effective implementation of advocacy initiatives at the national and European levels.
By connecting, exchanging knowledge and acting in a coordinated manner, networks contribute to strengthening democracy, protecting human rights and promoting the rule of law, while ensuring a systematic response to challenges that threaten European values.
Funding Information
- In Slovenia, a total of 300,000 euros is available for projects. 60,000 euros are available for an individual project lasting 24 months.
Expected Results
- (applies to both countries):
- Strengthened civil society watchdog/advocacy role (Increased involvement of networks of NGOs in policy and decision-making processes with local, regional, and national governments, support networks of NGOs to respond in time, become more active, stronger and louder when advocating for the change of national or local legislation and policies)
- Increased promotion and public awareness of EU rights and values (support to actions focusing on the wider audience and responding to concrete cases of human rights violations and discrimination cases in practice)
- Increased civic engagement in environmental protection/climate change (support to actions focusing on wider audience and to development/introduction of CSO practice in the field of environment litigation.)
Eligible Activities
- (applies to both countries):
- Evidence-based lobbying/advocacy to influence policy and decision-making processes, including revision/updating/adoption of policies and legislation.
- Civic mobilisation.
- Civic education, including street work.
- Awareness raising and outreach of EU rights and values (including street campaigning, use of digital tools).
- Campaigns, communication and public information.
- Provision of free advice, watchdog and monitoring activities on EU policies and rights and values.
- Promotion of the implementation of adopted laws, regulations and Court cases.
- Monitoring of implementation of policies and legislation.
- Research and analysis aimed at informing policy-making at EU and national level, development of tools and standards to support EU values.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible organisations should be established in Slovenia or Croatia.
- All eligible applicants and partners must respect the fundamental rights and values on which the EU is founded.
- Eligible applicants:
- Formal networks of non-governmental organizations – non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
- Existing informal NGO networks (consortia) in Slovenia, in which each member of the network meets the conditions
