If yes, then you can apply for ‘Business Ideas for Development’(in German: ‘GeschäftsideenfürEntwicklung’) will provide support for your project!
Business Ideas for Development addresses migrants living in Germany who are considering starting up a business in their country of origin. This is a bold step, since it requires great forethought and planning both to set up your own business and to return to your country of origin. Business Ideas for Development therefore assists migrants in implementing their business ideas before, during and after setting up their business.
By creating successful businesses, these migrants will stimulate job creation, economic growth and knowledge transfer and will ultimately promote innovation and sustainable development in their countries of origin. That is exactly what Business Ideas for Development aims to do. We support migrants from various developing countries and emerging markets. This call for proposals is open to migrants originating from the following countries:
- Cameroon
- Ghana
- Morocco
- Nigeria
- Tunisia
Funding Information
- Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM) finances services up to EUR 5,000 that are essential to start your business.
- Provided that you have a convincing business idea that you plan to realise within the next 12 months and that you have the necessary start-up capital.
CIM Offers
- 12 months of support and coaching in Germany and in your country of destination
- Support in developing your business plan
- Financing of travel costs to your country of destination in order to do market research
- Help in finding investors and other useful business contacts
Eligibility Criteria
- You must meet the following criteria:
- You originally come from Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria or Tunisia
- You currently reside in Germany.
- At the time of your application, you already have a precise business idea that you intend to implement in the next 12 months.
- At the time of your selection by Business Ideas for Development, your business has not yet been officially established. This means that it has not yet been authenticated by a notary or registered with the authorities.
- If you meet all these criteria, you must also clear the following hurdles:
- Your business will create added value in your target country – perhaps because it is seen as innovative in your country of origin, because it offers solutions to existing social challenges or environmental problems, and because it creates jobs and therefore prosperity and opens up new prospects.
- You must be convinced that you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur and that your technical expertise and skills put you in a position to start and run your own business.
- Your project appears feasible in the light of the prevailing conditions, opportunities and limitations in the target country.
