Deadline: 12 September 2019
The Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund has announced its second call for proposal in Democratic Republic of Congo.
Objectives
WPHF seeks to fund qualifying projects in DRC that are high impact, innovative, and contribute directly to the following objectives:
- Influence and advance progress on gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE) and ending violence against women and girls (EVAWG), including sexual and gender based violence / harmful practices (SGBV/HP)
- Enhance women and girls’ safety, security and human rights
At the global level, the FFPH is governed by a Board of Directors composed of four United Nations (to date UN Women, UNDP, UNFPA and BACP) from four donor Member States (at this Austria, the Netherlands, Canada, and Norway), as well as four civil society organizations (at this day Cordaid, GNWP, APWAPS and WANEP).
The Spotlight Initiative recently launched large country programs in Africa with an investment of158 million US dollars in Liberia, Mali, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda and Zimbabwe. In 2019, the Spotlight Initiative and the FFPH entered into a partnership in 6 countries (the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria and Uganda) in order to channel quality small, local and community-based organizations led by women or defending women’s rights women, as well as women’s funds, while contributing to the effect 6 of the Theory of Change in Initiative. Subsidies focus in particular on the elimination of violence against women, and the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality in contexts related to peace and security.
The FFPH and Spotlight Initiative Call for Proposals focus on organizations led by women’s organizations or women’s rights organizations representing and working on behalf of women groups victims of diverse and multiple forms of discrimination, such as those marginalized and excluded especially because of their poverty, ethnicity, disability, age, geography, migration status, status HIV. This is fully in line with the 2030 Agenda and the principle of leaving nobody in the planning against the elimination of violence against women (EVAW).
