Deadline: 6-Jul-25
A new round of project funding has been announced, aiming to deepen cooperation between civil society organizations in Croatia and France. The initiative supports partnerships that foster meaningful collaborations and shared learning, with a strong emphasis on promoting French expertise and visibility within the region.
This seventh call for proposals welcomes project ideas that involve conferences, study visits, advocacy actions, educational activities, professional training, and collaborative publications. Projects are especially encouraged to include an active French partner and reflect a clear link to France’s values, priorities, or institutions.
Priority will be given to projects under three main themes. The first is gender equality, particularly initiatives addressing domestic violence, promoting gender diversity in traditionally male-dominated fields, and improving the visibility and support of female Paralympic athletes. Notably, organizations that use a series of French-produced short films—already subtitled in Croatian—for awareness and educational efforts among key stakeholders such as law students, social workers, and educators will be highly considered.
The second priority is sustainable development. In connection with the recent United Nations Conference on the Oceans (UNOC3) held in France, projects supporting ocean conservation, island community resilience, nature-based solutions, and sustainability education will receive special attention.
The third area is media education. Proposals that train young people to think critically, identify misinformation, and engage in fact-based dialogue around societal issues are especially encouraged. Additionally, initiatives that explore the impacts and ethical implications of artificial intelligence and fight disinformation in any form will also be considered relevant.
The grant offers funding of up to €3,000 per project, covering no more than 80% of the total budget. Projects must commence in 2025 and conclude by September 2026, with a maximum duration of 12 months. The eligible activities include public events, youth education programs, debates, seminars, and exchange visits focused on adopting French best practices in Croatia.
However, applicants should avoid proposing one-off events that lack follow-up activities. While online formats are allowed, public events must be open to participation by the French Embassy, with opportunities for them to engage with the audience when appropriate.
Only nonprofit civil society organizations that are officially registered in the Croatian Register of Non-Profit Organizations for at least 12 months and have transparent financial reporting are eligible to apply. Proposals will be evaluated based on their relevance to Croatian societal needs, their alignment with the priorities of the call, the coherence and feasibility of planned activities, and the expected impact at the local, regional, or national level.
This call represents a unique opportunity to build cross-border collaborations and drive local change through culturally informed, impactful projects.
