The Czech Republic perceives the need to help the development of civil society and thus contribute to the spread of democracy, the rule of law and the protection of human rights. In this context, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nigeria is launching a call for proposals for Local Transformation Projects in its countries of competence.
Democracy, the rule of law and human rights are interdependent and mutually reinforcing pillars of human dignity. Promoting them and putting them into reality is an important priority goal of Czech foreign policy. As part of this goal, the Czech Republic promotes transition to democracy worldwide and shares its specific experience of social transformation and democracy building. The call for local transformation projects is based on the Human Rights and Transition Promotion Policy Concept of the Czech Republic of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
The aim of the project is to promote human rights and democracy in a specific area or for a specific group, not for development activities. The purchase of equipment may be included in a project because it is necessary to achieve the project’s objectives, but it must not be the main objective of the project.
Priority Areas
- The project must relate to one of the TRANS priority areas:
- civil society, including human rights defenders;
- freedom of expression and access to information, including media freedom;
- equal political and public participation;
- building rule of law institutions;
- equality and non-discrimination;
- protection of human rights in employment and environmental issues.
Funding Information
- The Government of the Czech Republic contributes to each approved project an amount ranging from 100,000 – 500,000 CZK depending on the scope of the project.
- The maximum duration of the project is 8 months – from 1 March 2024 to 31 October 2024
Criteria
- Basic conditions for participation in a Local Transformation Project:
- only local non-governmental non-profit organisations may submit an application;
- sustainability of the transformation project;
- properly completed and on-time submitted identification form;
- the current exchange rate of the office to be used in the application will be provided by the Embassy upon request.
