The National Museums Scotland is inviting proposals for the Maths Week Scotland Grants Fund to support organisations, partnerships and charities to develop in-person events or digital activities for Maths Week Scotland 2024.
Priority Areas
- They particularly welcome bids that:
- Seek to address particular challenges in relation to remote and rural communities. Priority will be given to areas in which there is a lack of opportunity for people to engage with maths-based activity.
- Provide opportunities for community groups
- Provide inspiring events or resources for family engagement
- Highlight diversity and include previously overlooked perspectives
- Demonstrate strong links to the ‘Maths Tales’ theme for Maths Week Scotland 2024
Funding Information
- The Maths Week Scotland Grants Fund is back offering grants of between £2,000 – £5,000
What will the fund cover?
- Freelancer/speaker fees
- Travel and subsistence
- Digital equipment
- Production costs (filming, audio, streaming, web design)
- Materials
- Hire of spaces or marquees
- Staff training
- Recognition/awards for participation in activity
- Existing resources requiring further development to meet Maths Week Scotland aims and ambitions
What will the fund not cover?
- Staff salaries
- Organisation overhead costs
- Activities outside of Scotland
Assessment Criteria
- A panel will assess your proposal based on the following criteria:
- How well the proposal addresses the aims and intended outcomes of Maths Week Scotland
- Impact and effectiveness – including aspects relating to reach and scale of the programme for a given level of funding
- Add value – how the proposal could add value to or extend provision for Maths Week Scotland, including reaching new audiences and the delivery of new content and approaches
- Geographical spread of funded projects across Scotland
- All applications will be expected to embed principles of equality, diversity and inclusion in their delivery and approach. Applications will also be expected to carry out their activities in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Where relevant please outline in your application how you will be considering environmental impact.
