Enabel has launched the call for proposals for Revitalization and support for School Clubs to contribute to the comprehensive development of adolescents and young people.
Objectives
- The specific objectives of the present appeal to the proposition are:
- OS1: Establish/strengthen the school club system in the 15 schools targeted by the project
- OS2: Operationalize school clubs by implementing innovative educational activities aimed at developing basic and 21st-century skills for adolescents and young people while integrating cross-cutting themes such as gender inclusion, the environment, and health and well-being education for adolescents and young people.
- These specific objectives constitute intervention themes that will be implemented within the framework of the subsidy agreement for the 15 targeted general and pedagogical post-basic schools in the provinces of Cibitoke and Kirundo.
- The specific objectives aim to ensure the effective implementation of project activities according to Enabel’s whole-school approach, while ensuring the genuine involvement and ownership of key stakeholders/club supervisors and students. This will achieve maximum sustainability and increased accountability. By incorporating these principles, they aim to create a dynamic and inclusive educational environment, capable of adapting to the constantly changing socio-educational context.
Funding Information
- The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 235,000.
- Any grant application under this call for proposals must fall within the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- Minimum amount: EUR 230,000.
- Maximum amount: EUR 235,000.
Duration
- The initial planned duration of an action cannot be less than 24 months nor exceed 30 months.
Expected Results
- OS1: Establish/strengthen the school club system in the 15 schools targeted by the project
- Expected Results:
- Result 1.1: Each of the 15 schools has at least three school clubs with a well-defined inclusive structure according to ministry standards. Their operation is documented by an action plan/activity calendar, a frequency of at least two meetings per month, with each student participating in at least one club, and reporting tools.
- Result 1.2: In each of the 15 targeted schools, school officials, school club supervisors, and student leaders are each trained in their roles, with a particular emphasis on gender-sensitive facilitation techniques, planning, and monitoring of club activities.
- SO2: Operationalize school clubs by implementing innovative educational activities aimed at developing basic and 21st-century skills in adolescents and young people while integrating cross-curricular themes such as gender inclusion, the environment, and health and well-being education for adolescents and young people.
- Expected Results:
- Result 2.1: School clubs in the 15 schools develop themes that strengthen student performance in core subjects (science: mathematics, biology, chemistry, earth sciences and physics, and languages: Kirundi, Kiswahili, English, and French).
- Result 2.2: School clubs in the 15 schools develop themes that strengthen essential 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, leadership, personal development, collaboration, and creativity among adolescents and young people, particularly by developing competitive initiatives/projects. Outcome 2.3: School clubs in the 15 schools develop cross-cutting themes, such as inclusion and gender, and health and well-being education for adolescents and young people, in their educational activities, including mobilizing against school dropouts and teenage pregnancies, as well as environmental protection.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for subsidies, the applicant must meet the following conditions:
- Be a legal entity;
- Be a private non-profit organization or a foundation;
- Be a specific organizational structure such as: a local non-governmental organization, an international (intergovernmental) organization;
- Be established or represented in the Republic of Burundi;
- Have experience in supervising school clubs;
- Have experience in at least 2 of the following 5 areas (presumably: Education, health and well-being, Environment and Climate, Promotion of Human Rights, Economy and Employment.
