The Radix Project (Roots4Rights) is an initiative of Calala Women’s Fund and the Otro Tiempo association, co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the CERV-2024-CITIZENS-VALUES call.
The project has two components: one focused on strengthening the capacities of women’s, feminist, and LGBTIAQ+ organizations through training, mentoring, and advisory services, as well as networking and exchange activities. The other component, the focus of this call for proposals, will fund projects aimed at protecting, promoting, and raising awareness about fundamental values and rights, with a specific focus on the rights of women, girls, and LGBTIAQ+ people.
Areas of Work
- To achieve this, they have two main areas of work:
- Project financing, managed by Calala.
- Capacity building, coordinated by Otro Tiempo.
Who is it aimed at?
- The target groups are non-profit grassroots civil society organizations legally registered as Associations, Foundations, or Cooperatives in any registry of the Spanish State dedicated to the protection and promotion of the fundamental rights of the following rights holders/groups/prioritized populations:
- Women and girls
- LGBTIAQ+ communities
- Migrants
- Racialized people (Afro-descendants, indigenous people, Roma, Muslims, etc.)
- Domestic and care workers
- Sex workers
- Women with disabilities
- Rural women
Funding Information
- This call has a budget of 1,660,000 euros (one million six hundred and sixty thousand euros) distributed in two types of financing:
- Type 1: 22 grants of 40,000 euros will be awarded, for a total amount of 880,000 euros, equivalent to 53% of the total amount of the call.
- Type 2: 13 grants of 60,000 euros will be awarded, for a total amount of 780,000 euros, equivalent to 47% of the total amount of the call.
Duration
- Proposed projects must have a duration of 24 months. In any case, as explained in the following section, the link with the Radix Project It will last 39 months due to the participation of the organizations whose initiatives are funded in the capacity building activities that begin in October 2025 and extend until the end of 2028.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a non-profit organization registered in Spain.
- Commit to the values of the European Union.
- Work to defend the rights of women and LGBTIAQ+ people.
- Be composed predominantly of women and/or LGBTIAQ+ people.
- Women’s, feminist, and/or LGBTIAQ+ organizations. Priority will be given to organizations led entirely or predominantly by women and/or LGBTIAQ+ people (demonstrable through corresponding organizational documentation; duly legalized bylaws).
- Submitted projects must promote the protection, advancement, and awareness-raising of the fundamental rights of women, girls, and/or LGBTIAQ+ people within the context of the values of the European Union.
