The European Commission, has launched through its Representation in Finland, a call for proposals to select partners for the maintenance of the EUROPE DIRECT service in 2021-2025.
EUROPE DIRECT works proactively and continuously with citizens to promote a stronger commitment to the European project. Through its information and cooperation activities, EUROPE DIRECT enables citizens to make informed choices about the future of the EU and to participate fully in the development of democracy in Europe.
EUROPE DIRECT will help to better understand how the EU and its parliamentary democracy work and what the EU is responsible for, thus raising citizens’ awareness of the benefits they receive from the EU on a daily basis, while also emphasizing the EU’s added value.
EUROPE DIRECT helps to identify important aspects of EU policy at local level and can identify messages and actions that match local needs. Through its information and citizen participation activities, EUROPE DIRECT helps to lay the foundations for the strategic political priorities of the Commission and Parliament.
EUROPE DIRECT also listens to citizens’ expectations and helps pass on feedback to the EU institutions.
In each Member State, EUROPE DIRECT works closely with the Commission’s Representations and the European Parliament’s Liaison Offices (hereinafter “the Liaison Offices”). It will also seek to cooperate with other EU information networks and local contact points, such as relevant local networks (if any), and to promote communication and coordination between them.

- Task 3: Awareness of sensitive EU issues at the local level
- Task 4: The EU in schools
- Task 5 : Promoting a regional network of networks
Funding Information
- Provision has been made for the co-financing of projects under this call for proposals for the first year of implementation (2021) a total of EUR 243 200.
- The amount of each annual grant for the period 2022-2025 is EUR 45,600.
Requirements
- All EUROPE DIRECT services must meet the following requirements:
- They must have an identifiable Premises, hereinafter referred to as’ EUROPE DIRECT Service Premises’, the facade of which is attached to the street level nameplate and as close as possible to the sign information EUROPE DIRECT service opening hours and / or appointment arrangements and phone number for contacts.
- They must have a dedicated telephone line and e-mail address.
- Visibility network.
- All EUROPE DIRECT services must
- support communication and organization activities organized by the Commission Representation and the Liaison Office cooperation activities, including yhdessä.eu community development
- respond to individual requests for meetings
- answer questions or direct people to relevant EU networks or Europe Direct
- communicate with the public through social media
- share EU publications, information, videos and messages
- be assessed EUROPE DIRECT provided by the Commission through a satisfaction survey tool
- submit reports in English to EUROPE every 3 months of DIRECT actions provided by the Commission using a reporting tool.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following types of applicants may submit proposals:
- a public body, such as a municipality or other local or regional authority, or
- association / organization of local authorities, non-profit organization, social partner, department of education.
- Natural persons are not eligible
Country of Establishment
- Only those made by legal entities established in Finland are eligible applications.
