The European Commission through its representation in the Netherlands, has launched a call for proposals for the selection of partners for the management of EUROPE DIRECT in the period 2021-2025.
EUROPE DIRECT engages with citizens on a proactive and ongoing basis to ensure greater involvement in the European project. By organizing information and engagement activities, EUROPE DIRECT enablescitizens to make informed choices about the future of the EU by participating fully in the European democratic process.
By promoting a better understanding of how the EU and its parliamentary democracy work and which issues are the responsibility of the EU, EUROPE DIRECT raises awareness among citizens that they benefit from the EU on a daily basis, thus highlighting the added value of the EU.
EUROPE DIRECT helps identify those aspects of EU policy that are important at local level and can tailor messages and activities to local needs. Through information and engagement activities, EUROPE DIRECT helpspave the way for the strategic policy priorities of the Commission and Parliament.
EUROPE DIRECT also listens to citizens’ expectations and can provide feedback to the EU institutions.
EUROPE DIRECT works closely with the Commission Representations and with the Liaison Offices of the European Parliament (hereinafter “the EPLOs”) in the respective Member States. EUROPE DIRECT cooperates with other EU outreach networks and local contact points, including relevant local networks (where they exist), and promotes mutual exchanges and cooperation.

- Task 3: Awareness of sensitive EU issues at local level
- Task 4: The EU in schools
- Task 5 :Promote a regional network of networks
Funding Information
- The total budget for the co-financing of projects under this call for proposals for the first year of implementation (2021) is EUR 351,996.
- The amount of each annual grant for the years 2022-2025 is EUR 38,000.
Requirements
- All EUROPE DIRECT must have
- a recognizable place (hereinafter the “seat of EUROPE DIRECT”) with a plate at the front of the building at street height. The opening times and / or appointment arrangements and the EUROPE DIRECT telephone number should be this way be hung as close to that plate as possible.
- a specific telephone line and a specific e-mail address;
- online presence.
- All EUROPE DIRECT must
- support the communication and engagement activities that by the Representation of the Commission and the EPLO organized, as well as the development of the Samen.eu -community;
- responses to individual meeting requests;
- answer questions or refer people to the relevant EU networks or the relevant Europe Direct contact center;
- communicate with the public through social media;
- disseminate EU publications / information / video clips / messages;
- a survey provided by the Commission on the degree of satisfaction with users to perform the activities EUROPE DIRECT to judge
- report in English 4 times a year on the activities of EUROPE DIRECT via an online reporting tool provided by the Commission is made available.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following applicants may submit proposals:
- government agencies, such as a municipal or other local / regional government,
- private bodies with a public function
- federations / associations of local authorities, associations without profit motive, social partners, education or training institutions.
