The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Sarajevo has announced a Call for Proposals for Small Grants in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Small grants are one of the instruments of the Slovak development cooperation. They are provided by the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation (SAIDC) through the Slovak Embassy in Sarajevo. Small grants support small-scale development projects and allow for a flexible and effective response to local development needs.
Priorities
Infrastructure and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources:
Improvement of water and waste management; protection and restoration of the environment; transition to a green economy and the use of clean energy with regard to energy security; sustainable forest management and urban development; reduction of natural disaster risks; and fostering environmental awareness.
Food Security and Agriculture:
Enhancing food security and self-sufficiency in the production of agri-food commodities across the entire agri-food value chain; increasing employment in the agri-food sector; introducing new techniques and practices throughout the value chain; and ensuring sustainable use of ecosystems.
Support for a Market-Oriented Environment:
Promotion of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises; implementation of innovations and digitalisation; creation of jobs and a business-friendly environment; responsible corporate conduct with an emphasis on preventing and mitigating possible negative impacts of business activities on the environment and society.
Good Health:
Healthcare and social services with a focus on mothers and children, nutrition programmes, equipping healthcare facilities, public education and awareness on prevention and health care, including mental health; training of healthcare and social workers.
Quality Education:
Education at all levels; acquisition of vocational skills aimed at entering the labour market and starting one’s own business; training of teaching and non-teaching staff; and equipping educational facilities.
Good Governance and Civil Society Development:
Building and reforming democratic institutions; public finance management; the rule of law and participation of civil society in democratic processes; strengthening the capacities of local governments and encouraging active citizen participation in community development; conflict prevention and reconciliation efforts; engagement of civilian experts in international crisis management; and digitalisation of institutional and municipal capacities.
Cross-Cutting Themes (these may also represent the project’s priority focus):
Environment and Climate Change: Support for projects contributing to the implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and its global goals, including climate change mitigation; strengthening climate change adaptation and ecosystem resilience, and supporting ecosystem services; nature, biodiversity, and soil protection; environmental and component monitoring; and safeguarding and promoting the sustainable use of natural resources.
Gender Equality:
Elimination of all forms of discrimination against women and girls, as well as all forms of violence against them, including harmful practices and traditions (such as early or forced marriage and female genital mutilation); ensuring equal opportunities in public life; support for education; improved access to quality healthcare for all girls, women, boys, and men, taking into account their specific needs; and reduction of maternal, neonatal, and under-five mortality rates. In terms of women’s economic empowerment, the objective is to develop and implement interventions that promote equal opportunities in the workplace, equal access to resources and opportunities, and the inclusion of women in entrepreneurship.
Funding Information
- The maximum amount of the non-repayable financial contribution is 10.000 EUR per project.
- A maximum number of the selected projects are limited by the budget allocated for this call for proposals which is 20.000 EUR.
- Each project must last between 6 and 12 months, beginning immediately after the entry into force of the small grant agreement.
Eligibility Criteria
- The call is open to registered:
- non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entities
- non-governmental organizations
- local and regional self-government units
Ineligibility Criteria
- The following applicants are not eligible:
- legal entities subject to international sanctions under Act No. 289/2016 Coll. of the Slovak Republic
- legal entities against which the Slovak Republic has a financial claim
