The Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation has launched the Call for Proposals for Small Grants for Lebanon and Iraq.
Priorities
- The projects have to be in line with the Medium-term Strategy for Development Cooperation of the Slovak Republic for 2025 – 2030 and focus on one or more of the following sectoral priorities. At the same time, two cross-cutting themes must be mainstreamed into the project.
- Sectoral priorities:
- Quality education (SDG 4) – education at all levels of schools; acquiring professional skills with a focus on entering the labour market and starting a business; training of pedagogical and non-pedagogical staff, and equipping school facilities;
- Good health (SDG 3) – health and social care with an emphasis on mothers and children, nutrition programmes, equipment of health facilities, education and awareness of the population in the areas of prevention and health care, including mental health; education of health and social workers;
- Good governance and civil society building (SDG 11, 16, 17) – building and reforming democratic institutions; public finance management; the rule of law and civil society participation in democratic processes; building the capacities of local governments and active participation of citizens in community development; conflict prevention and reconciliation activities; activities of civilian experts in international crisis management and digitalisation of the capacities of institutions and local governments;
- Food safety and agriculture (SDG 1, 2) – increasing food security; self-sufficiency in the production of agri-food commodities within the entire agri-food sector; increasing employment in the agri-food sector; introducing new techniques and processes in all parts of the value chain; and to the sustainable use of ecosystems;
- Infrastructure and sustainable use of natural resources (SDG 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 15) – improving water and waste management; protecting and restoring the environment; transitioning to a green economy and using clean energy with regard to energy security; sustainable forest management, sustainable development of settlements; reducing the risk of natural disasters; and building environmental awareness;
- Support for the creation of a market environment (SDG 8, 9) – supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises; introducing innovations and digitalisation; creating jobs and a business-friendly environment; responsible business conduct with an emphasis on preventing and mitigating any adverse impacts of business activities on the environment and society.
- Cross-cutting themes:
- Environment and climate change (SDG 13, 15) – with a focus on supporting projects that contribute to the implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and its global goals, including climate change mitigation; strengthening adaptation to climate change and increasing the resilience of ecosystems and supporting their services; protecting nature, biodiversity and land; monitoring the environment and its components; protecting and promoting the sustainable use of natural resources.
- Equality of women and men (SDG 5) – eliminating all forms of discrimination against women and girls, as well as all forms of violence against women and girls, including harmful practices and conventions (such as early or forced marriage or female genital mutilation); ensuring equal opportunities in public life. The emphasis is on promoting education; improving access to quality health care for all girls, women, boys and men, taking into account their specific needs; reducing maternal, newborn and under-five mortality. In regard to women’s economic empowerment, the aim is to develop and implement interventions that promote equal opportunities in the workplace, equal access to opportunities and resources, as well as women’s participation in entrepreneurship.
Funding Information
- The maximum eligible amount of the small grant is 10,000 eur per project. Applicants are encouraged to apply for the full eligible allocation.
- The total number of supported projects is limited by the budget of 30,000 eur allocated for this call.
Duration
- The duration of each project is from 6 to a maximum of 12 months beginning immediately after the entry of the small grant agreement into effect.
Eligibility Criteria
- The call for proposals is open to registered
- non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entities
- non-governmental organizations
- local and regional self-government units.
- The applicant cannot be a legal entity against which the Slovak Republic has a financial claim.
