The Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Action Fund (WPHF) has launched its new call for proposals in Niger to support civil society organizations to strengthen the active participation and increased decision-making of women in processes and interventions relating to conflict prevention and resolution.
The overall objective of this call for proposals is to provide grants to local civil society organizations in Niger for the implementation of projects focused on increasing the participation and meaningful decision-making of women in the processes conflict prevention and resolution in humanitarian and conflict contexts.
The call for proposals specifically contributes to the following impacts of the WPHF:
- Impact 2: Effective participation and increased decision-making by women in processes and conflict prevention interventions.
- Impact 4: Increased representation and decision-making power of women in informal and formal peace processes and/or the implementation of peace agreements.
Streams
- WPHF seeks to fund eligible organizations in Niger through the following funding streams:
- Programmatic funding from $30,000 to $200,000
- Provides programmatic funding for CSO projects aimed at
- strengthening women’s active participation and decision-making in conflict prevention processes and interventions (in line with WPHF Impact Area 2); OR
- (CSO projects aimed at strengthening women’s representation and decision-making power in informal and formal peace processes and/or the implementation of peace agreements (in line with WPHF impact area 4).
- Provides programmatic funding for CSO projects aimed at
- Institutional funding from 5,000 USD to 30,000 USD
- Provides institutional funding for the restoration and strengthening of the institutional capacities of civil society organizations working to implement commitments relating to the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.
- Programmatic funding from $30,000 to $200,000

- Place and Duration
- The WPHF will finance eligible projects in Niger with a geographical concentration in the regions of Maradi and Tillaberi. Multi-country projects or projects outside the geographical area will NOT be accepted.
- All civil society organizations can apply for grants with a maximum duration of 2 years.
Eligibility Criteria
- National, regional or local women’s rights, young feminist rights, women-led or young women’s rights organizations, and organizations with a proven track record of working with women and girls are eligible to apply. Joint projects between several organizations are allowed and encouraged.
- Women’s rights or feminist organization: The organization’s formal mission or vision statement should reflect its commitment to addressing multiple or intersecting forms of discrimination and advancing gender equality and women’s rights. The organization should work to transform the underlying factors/systems/structures, including patriarchy and gender power dynamics, that perpetuate gender-based violence.
- Women-led organization: Must be led by a woman as President/Executive Director/Head of Organization.
- Youth-focused organization: To be considered “youth-focused”, the fundamental mission and vision of the organization must be focused on supporting the social, economic and political participation of young women and young men and fight against multiple or intersecting forms of discrimination against young women and young men. WPHF will pay particular attention to youth focused organizations that support young women, advance gender equality and peacebuilding.
- Young women-led organization: must be led by a young person between the ages of 18 and 29 who acts as director/head of organization.
Ineligible
- The following entities are NOT eligible to apply for a WPHF grant:
- International non-governmental organizations;
- Government institutions;
- UN agencies or UN country offices;
- Individuals;
- Private sector entities;
- Universities and educational institutions.
