Africalia has launched a call for proposals of artistic tools with an objective of Global Citizenship Education. Those cultural instruments must invite an audience to reflect on Global Citizenship and Solidarity, applied to the art and culture sector in Belgium.
These proposals will give specific attention to cultural cross-fertilization and aim to highlight contemporary creations by African diaspora artists sub-Saharan / Afro-descendants.
Africalia is an association created at the initiative of the Belgian Development Cooperation promoting sustainable human development through support for culture and the arts African contemporary.
Priorities and Operational Objectives of Africalia
- The proposal must be the result of a collaboration between one or more artist (s) and a promising structure of the project, and to encourage the meeting of different disciplines artistic: in the idea of supporting and / or developing bridges between operators Belgian artists and artists from different disciplines, Africalia will encourage proposals initiated in a spirit of partnership and co-creation.
- The proposals will highlight the cultural mixes and artistic expressions current Diaspora artists from sub-Saharan Africa / Afro-descendants.
- The proposal will highlight concepts and issues addressed in the CHMS. By Artistic CHMS project it is understood: “a project that has for priority objective to bring artists in an artistic and creative way to better understand, analyze and criticize their environment by being more aware of human rights, realities experienced by the populations of the South, as well as interdependencies between northern and southern populations, with the aim of finding ways to reinvent our societies .
- The proposal will aim to overcome stereotypes, negative perceptions, all polarizations and discriminations because of belonging to a minority or link with social divisions. It will promote social cohesion, tolerance and respect mutual.
Funding Information
- The contribution Africalia will be between € 5,000 minimum and maximum € 10,000 by proposal. The total budget available for this call is 50.000 €.
- The period of implementation of the proposal will be between 2 and 12 months for the program period from 2017 to 2021, and start no earlier than April 2018.
Eligibility Criteria
- Legal persons under Belgian law (association, groups of artists or other structures cultural enterprises, private companies of the type production company) whose head office is established in Belgium, and carrying out regular action in the field of culture, arts and creation.
- Proposals from individual artists may be submitted, provided that they working in partnership with a cultural association established in Belgium which assumes legal responsibility and who undertakes to bring the project to a successful conclusion.
- The provisional financial arrangement, in kind or in cash, must obligatorily involve the least one partner if it is a proposal carried by an individual in partnership with an established structure. All resources are related to achieving the result of this call.
