The U.S. Embassy in Prague has announced a special grant competition highlighting 100 years of U.S. – Czech Friendship. The Embassy is seeking proposals with outstanding merit that highlight next year’s Centennial of U.S. –Czech relations (1918-2018).
This round the embassy invites institutions & organizations to submit projects which would:
- Launch and Organize a minimum of 50 “U.S.-Czech Centennial: Democracy for All” after-school high school clubs throughout the Czech Republic, aiming for at least one club per city of 50,000 residents.
- Student members will participate in educational programs and attend regional conferences on civic education, democracy and economic freedom.
- These clubs would place a special emphasis on using and learning about new technology as a tool for citizens, and in particular youth, to become civically engaged.
- Selected members of these clubs would become members of a youth counsel for the U.S. Embassy, traveling twice a year to Prague for student conferences to discuss issues related to democracy, civic engagement, economic freedom, and attend roundtables with U.S. Embassy representatives and prominent speakers, including members of the business community.
Funding Information
Institutions & organizations may request a budget up to $ 164,000. This is subject to the availability of funds.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only not-for-profit entities and projects will be considered for funding.
- Individuals are not eligible to apply.
- Institutions and individuals must have a proven track record of executing superior events, workshops, programs, etc.
- Proposals must be focused on audiences in the Czech Republic.
