Sida is looking for partners that want to contribute to a vibrant and pluralistic civil society in low- and middle-income countries.
The purpose of the call for proposals is to strengthen the ability and capacity of civil society to contribute to better living conditions for people living in poverty and oppression.
Objectives
- Strengthened capacity of civil society in developing countries
- Increased ability of civil society and its target groups to organise on issues related to democracy, human rights and freedom, the rule of law, gender equality, free markets and property rights, accountability, tolerance, anti-corruption and/or peace and security
- Increased efficiency, local ownership and transparency of civil society actors Conditions for civil society actors in developing countries to operate
- Strengthened space for an independent and pluralistic civil society
- Improved conditions for dialogue and collaboration within civil society, and between civil society and other actors
- Improved conditions for civil society actors to act independently and find diversified funding
Funding Information
- Partnership to strengthen civil society < 1 MSEK
- The grant is up to 1 million SEK per year. The agreements can last between one and five years. The length of the agreement and the amount granted are decided by Sida when preparing an application.
- Partnership with Civil Society 1-5MSEK
- The grant is 1-5 million SEK per year. The agreements can last between one and five years. The length of the agreement and the amount granted are decided by Sida when preparing an application.
What can you search for?
- Grants are given to organizations that collaborate with and pass on support to a civil society organization in a developing country. Passing on should generally only take place in one step. The activities should contribute to the goals that the government has set; to strengthen the capacity of civil society and/or to strengthen the conditions for civil society in developing countries to operate.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations that are registered as a non-profit association or foundation (non-profit) based in Sweden can apply. The organization must have been operating for at least one year and have stable finances.
- To support a pluralistic civil society, they welcome civil society actors that work with different target groups and different thematic priorities in developing countries.
- The application needs to be made by a Swedish organisation.
