The European Commission (EC) is accepting applications for the Action to strengthens civil society organisations by promoting an inclusive, participatory, empowered, and independent civil society and democratic space.
This programme strongly encourages an inclusive and open dialogue between the CSOs and state authorities and among the CSOs themselves to foster strong networks.
Objectives
- The global objective of this call for proposals is to contribute to equitable and sustainable growth in Tajikistan by supporting civil society organisations and their actions.
- The specific objective(s) of this call for proposals is to support civil society in improving the good governance and contributing to the development processes in Tajikistan.
Priorities
- The priority(ies) of this call for proposals are:
- Strengthening CSOs, particularly youth and women organisations, in supporting the green and digital transformation agenda in Tajikistan;
- Improving the capacity of CSOs to perform their role as independent development actors more effectively and to improve an enabling environment and civic space in Tajikistan;
- Supporting CSOs to effectively participate in development processes, engage in policy dialogue with the authorities, and participate in the monitoring and evaluation of national plans and programmes.
- Priority will be given to proposals:
- drafted and implemented by consortium of local CSOs;
- demonstrating a good intervention logic and providing for a rigorous results’ monitoring system.
Funding Information
- The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 2 078 000.
- Size of grants
- Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- minimum amount: EUR 400 000
- maximum amount: EUR 500 000

Duration
- The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 24 months nor exceed 36 months.
Eligible Activities
- Types of activity
- Building capacity of CSOs, including media organisations, to benefit from digital tools in their daily activities;
- Supporting CSOs in strengthening digital skills of citizens to facilitate an inclusive digital transformation to reduce the digital gender gap and other gaps related to age, disability, location, social and economic status;
- Supporting CSOs to actively participate in the promotion of green transition with particular focus on energy efficiency, effective waste management, clean public spaces, efficient use of water, etc.;
- Promotion of good governance and the rule of law;
- Enabling civil society participation in and contribution to policy dialogue and decision-making processes at all levels;
- Technical and legal support to strengthen CSO partners’ capacity and ability to uphold, preserve and promote an enabling environment for civil society;
- Supporting capacity building activities for CSOs, including media organisations, on national and international advocacy and engagement with the authorities.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person, and
- be non-profit-making, and
- be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation and
- be effectively established in a Member State of the European Union or Tajikistan or any other eligible country as stipulated in NDICI-GE Regulation, and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
- The lead applicant may not submit more than one application under this call for proposals.
- The lead applicant may not be awarded more than one grant under this call for proposals
