The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has launched the call for applications to strengthen the Pedagogical Processes of Teaching at the Secondary Level and raising their levels of equity, inclusion and relevance, towards achieving greater competencies.
Objectives
- The objectives of this call for expressions of interest are:
- To contribute to improving the quality of education at the Secondary Level and raising its levels of equity, inclusion and relevance, improving the development of students’ competencies in language, mathematics, natural sciences and social sciences, and comprehensive systemic support for the timely entry, retention and reintegration of the student population from 12 to 17 years old.
Components
- To achieve the proposed objectives, the design and implementation of Secundaria Avanza (Advanced Secondary School) combines three components:
- Strengthening teaching;
- Strengthening institutional and pedagogical management;
- Information management, support, and evaluation; and
- A plan for timely admission, retention, and reintegration.

Outcomes
- The suggested activities for their achievement are the following:
- Outcome 1: Strengthening the teaching competencies of Secondary Level teachers with appropriate and relevant methodologies, through continuous training, ensuring that students achieve the learning objectives in Spanish Language, Mathematics, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences.
- Outcome 2: Strengthened leadership in institutional and pedagogical management at the regional, district, and secondary education centers to ensure evidence-based planning of student learning and effective implementation of the Advanced Secondary School program.
- Outcome 3: Established a continuous process for providing information, monitoring, and assessing learning outcomes, providing timely information to improve the implementation of the Advanced Secondary School program.
- Outcome 4: Designed and implemented a plan for the timely admission, retention, and reintegration of secondary school students.
Selection Criteria
- Proven experience in the sector supporting programs and activities related to the requested results/products. They have experts in the topics of interest.
- Project work plan and schedule are adequate and feasible.
- Financial efficiency of the proposal, with a reasonable budget in relation to the requested results and products.
