The European Commission has published a call for proposals for the selection of partners for the operation of EUROPE DIRECT between 2021 and 2025 through its Representation in Hungary.
It proactively maintains continuous contact with citizens to ensure greater responsibility for the European project. By organizing information and participation activities, EUROPE DIRECT enables citizens to make informed decisions about the future of the Union through their full participation in the European democratic process.
Through a better understanding of how the Union and parliamentary democracy work and the issues that fall within its competences, EUROPE DIRECT makes citizens aware of the benefits of the EU in their daily lives, while also highlighting the Union’s added value. It helps locally important aspects of EU policies to identify and be able to develop the right messages to local needs and activities. Through its outreach and civic engagement activities, EUROPE DIRECT helps prepare the ground for the Commission’s and Parliament’s strategic political priorities.
The EUROPE DIRECT pay attention also to the expectations of citizens and allows you to send feedback to the EU institutions.
Moreover, EUROPE DIRECT works closely with the Commission Representations and the European Parliament offices Contact (hereinafter referred to as the EP’s liaison offices) in the Member States. It seeks to cooperate with and promote the exchange of information and coordination between other EU information networks and local contact points at the national and regional levels.
Five Basic Tasks
- Task 1: Informing and encouraging citizens to take part
- Task 2: Relationships with local media and multipliers
- Task 3: Raising awareness of sensitive EU issues at the local level
- Task 4: The EU in schools
- Task 5: Promote a regional network of networks
Funding Information
- Total earmarked for the co-financing of projects under this call for proposals budget for the first year of implementation (2021) EUR 398 939.
- The annual grant amount for each EUROPE DIRECT between 2022 and 2025 is: EUR 30 400.
Requirements
- Each EUROPE DIRECT center must have:
- a recognizable building (hereinafter referred to as ” EUROPE DIRECT”), on the facade of which a nameplate is placed at street level EUROPE DIRECT should be indicated as close as possible to the nameplate opening hours and/or appointment options, and a contact telephone number;
- own telephone line and e-mail address
- online presence.
- For each EUROPE DIRECT center:
- be supported by the Commission Representation and the EP Liaison Office organized communication and engagement activities, including the creation of the together.EU community;
- respond to individual requests for meetings;
- answer questions or contact the relevant Union networks or direct people to the Europe Direct information center maintain contact with the public through social media;
- disseminate Union publications/information/videos/messages;
- a satisfaction survey tool provided by the Commission evaluate the activities of EUROPE DIRECT;
- an online reporting tool provided by the Commission must report to EUROPE DIRECT twice a year in English activities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications may be submitted by any of the following applicants:
- a public body, such as a local or other local/regional authority municipalities, or
- association/federation of local authorities, non-profit organization, library, social partner, educational or training institution, chamber of commerce, and industry.
- Natural persons are not eligible
