The European Commission through its Representation in Greece launched a call for proposals for the selection of partners to lead EUROPE DIRECT in the period 2021-2025. It with citizens in a proactive and ongoing basis to ensure greater ownership of the European project. By organizing information and participation activities, EUROPE DIRECT enables citizens to make informed choices about the future of the EU by participating fully in the European democratic process.
By fostering a better understanding of how the EU and its parliamentary democracy operate and the issues that fall within the EU’s remit, EUROPE DIRECT raises public awareness of how they benefit from the EU on a daily basis. , while emphasizing its added value.
It helps identifies aspects of EU policies that are important locally and can deliver messages and activities to meet local needs. Through publicity and citizenship activities, EUROPE DIRECT helps prepare the ground for the strategic political priorities of the Commission and Parliament.
Also, EUROPE DIRECT listens to citizens’ expectations and provide feedback to the EU institutions.
Moreover, The EUROPE DIRECT cooperate closely with the Commission Representations and the European Parliament Liaison Office (hereinafter “the EC Liaison Office”) in the Member States. They also seek cooperation with other EU networks or local projection networks and contact points and promote exchanges and coordination between them.
Funding Information
- The total budget for the co-financing of projects under it of this call for proposals for the first year of implementation (2021) is 396,000 euros.
- The amount of the annual grant for the period 2022-2025 will be 34,200 euros.

- Task 2: Relationships with local media and opinion-makers
- Task 3: Raise awareness of sensitive EU issues at the local level

Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals may be submitted by any of the following applicants:
- a public body, such as a municipality or other local/regional authority level, or
- federation / association / consortium of local authorities, non-governmental organizations,
- social partners, training centers, and training centers.
- Natural persons are not eligible.
Requirements
- All EUROPE DIRECT must have:
- a recognizable area (hereinafter referred to as ” EUROPE DIRECT Headquarters “) with plate located on the front of the plant in the level of the road on which its opening hours are indicated

- All EUROPE DIRECT must:

- respond to individual meeting requests
- answer questions or refer to appropriate EU networks or the corresponding Europe Direct 15 contact center
- interact with the public through the use of social media networking;
- distribute EU publications/information/video clips/messages; use a satisfaction survey tool provided by Commission for the evaluation of EUROPE DIRECT activities;
- submit monthly activity reports in English of EUROPE DIRECT 16, through an electronic submission tool reports to be made available by the Commission.
