The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction is pleased to invite qualified organizations to submit their respective proposals for the “Harnessing synergies between climate change adapation and risk reduction in migrant-inclusive health system responses” project.
Purpose
- The overall objective of the joint programme is to contribute to strengthening synergies between CCA and risk reduction in the MENA region through mainstreaming a gender-sensitive human mobility lens into national public health adaptation strategies and DRR strategies and enhance understanding of health impacts of climate change among the host and migrant communities in the target countries.
Funding Information
- The maximum amount requested from UNDRR for the implementation of this project cannot exceed 90,000 (Ninety thousand) USD.
- The duration of the proposed project cannot exceed 1st September 2025.
Outcome
- The joint programme has three outcomes. This grant is concerned with outcome 2 which focuses on having a new or updated local-level public health adaptation strategy and a DRR strategy which integrate a human mobility lens including a migrant-inclusive approach in the respective target countries and states : “ The target countries demonstrate enhanced coherence towards migrant inclusion between public health strategies and DRR strategies and willingness to share good practices from the programme with other countries in the MENA region.”
Output

Activities
- Liasing with UNDRR country focal point and PUNOs.
- Apply the public health system resilience addendum in the selected city and develop a preliminary action plan based on the discussions with the city in a consultative manner with the city officials and relevant stakeholders.
- Review the preliminary action plan resulting from public health system resilience addendum against the detailed disaster resilience scorecard to ensure that all gaps are addressed with the city in a consultative manner with the city officials and relevant stakeholders.
- Based on the findings of the assessments, develop the Local Resilience Action Plan in the city in a consultative manner with local governments and stakeholders.
Criteria
- Target countries, namely Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon, have been identified based on the following criteria:

- existing relevant activities by IOM, WHO and UNDRR in the country;
- accessibility (physical and administratively) to implement the joint programme activities;
- limited adaptive capacity in the context of climate change; and
