The Community Foundation Ireland is accepting applications for the CGN Community Benefit Fund, designed to assist community, voluntary, and not-for-profit organizations in the vicinity of the windfarms.
The mission is to endorse a culture of inclusion and to dismantle the barriers that lead to isolation.
The Fund aims to unify the community, stimulate active achievement, and foster an environment where every member can participate and thrive. In addition to fostering community development and inclusivity, they also endorse local initiatives that promote environmental sustainability, climate action, and biodiversity preservation.
The five windfarm locations are:
- Skrine, Knockmeane, Roscommon
- Roosky, Co. Roscommon
- Lea beg, Ferbane, Co. Offaly
- Faughary, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim
- Cloghboola, Knocknagashel, Co. Kerry
Objectives
- They’re actively seeking applications for initiatives that underline the following objectives:
- Amplifying opportunities that inspire engagement in community life, thereby strengthening integration and social unity.
- Extending support to various groups to enhance connectivity within the community, fostering a sense of belonging.
- Championing activities that help cultivate a shared sense of community identity and connectedness.
Priority Areas
- They’re especially looking for initiatives that benefit these groups:
- A portion of the grants is dedicated to projects that target climate action, biodiversity preservation, and enhancement of the local environment.
Funding Information
- Grants of up to €2,000 are available to encourage local initiatives that focus on bolstering community development and inclusivity.
Eligible Projects
- Target one or more of the identified priority areas.
- Will include clear, detailed, realistic costs and timescales.
- Align with the fund’s mission of supporting community development and social inclusion.
- Agree to the terms, including reporting and potential site visits.
Ineligible Projects
- Ongoing core costs such as insurance, rent, bills etc.
- Religious, political, or animal welfare activities.
- Projects that have already happened or any activities that will happen before the grants are awarded.
- Projects taking place outside of the Republic of Ireland.
Eligibility Criteria
- Can be a registered charity or a local community/voluntary group.
- Have up to date and sufficient governing documents, annual accounts and a dedicated bank account
- Have charitable aims and operate with a not-for-profit model.
- Must be situated or primarily active within the local area surrounding the windfarm.
- Applications are welcome from organisations that:
- Are based within the local area.
- Primarily operate within this area.
- Please note that only one application per organisation will be accepted.
Ineligible
- Statutory bodies
- For-profit companies
- Organisations outside the Republic of Ireland
- Individual people who are not part of an organisation
