The Grants to Artists and Arts Organizations program has the following goals:
- To support the artistic development of individual artists.
- To support arts organizations in fulfilling their mandates.
- To contribute to the grown and sustainability of the St. John’s arts community.
- To improve the well-being of the community.

Eligibility Criteria
- Community Groups and Organizations
- The City of St. John’s supports non-profit groups and organizations seeking financial assistance. They will consider supporting educational, multicultural, recreational or inclusive programs and services. Activities must take place within the city.
- Special Events and Festivals
- The City of St. John’s supports non-profit organizations producing events of one or more days that take place in the city. Events should:
- Generate economic activity
- Showcase and develop cultural assets
- Enrich the life of the community
- Enhance community engagement
- Appeal to a varied audience
- The City of St. John’s supports non-profit organizations producing events of one or more days that take place in the city. Events should:
- Sporting Groups and Organizations
- The City of St. John’s supports non-profit organizations that:
- Enhance participation primarily in youth sport
- Maximize the use of facilities within the city
- To be considered, a provincial sport governing body must sanction your group or organization.
- The City of St. John’s supports non-profit organizations that:
- Artists and Arts Organizations
- Financial resources are available to individual artists and arts organizations in the following disciplines:
- Theatre
- Dance
- Music
- Literary arts
- Film and new media
- Visual art and craft
- Financial resources are available to individual artists and arts organizations in the following disciplines:
- Capital Grants
- Capital grants support non-profit groups and organizations seeking financial assistance for the construction, expansion or renovation of a facility. The facility must meet a demonstrated need in the areas of recreational, culture or other community service.
