Counterpart International (CPI) Mozambique is currently inviting interested NGOs/CBOs/CSOs/FBOs to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) to apply to receive limited grants for the PCBG electoral support project. Counterpart is currently evaluating the possibility of engaging local partners who have the management and technical capacity to provide high quality service delivery with regards to this program.
The program Parceria Cívica Para Boa Governação (PCBG) funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) is a four-year program that seeks to support accountable, effective democratic governance through partnering with civil society organizations.
The goal of the elections project is to promote peaceful and credible elections in advance of Mozambique’s October 2018 municipal elections. The program encourages civil society participation in the electoral process employing a coordinated, collaborative approach. The project objectives include:
- To strengthen the capacity of Mozambican civil society groups to reliably document electoral processes.
- To strengthen the capacity of Mozambican civil society groups to promote peaceful and inclusive elections.
This call for Expressions of Interest is intended to lead to a pre-qualification of suitable prospective grant recipients that will be invited to submit applications with respect to supporting the upcoming municipal elections. The implementation period for the grants is between 9-12 months depending on the area of focus.
Areas of Focus
The NGO/CBO/CSO/FBOs shall be required to express interest in one or more of the following areas;
- Long term domestic election monitoring;
- Promotion of peaceful electoral processes and peace building;
- Serving as lead partner (i.e. housing the Secretariat) of the consortium of CSOs; and/or
- Women’s political participation
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations must be a legally registered, formally constituted non-profit Mozambican entity with valid registration certificate.
- Organizations must be in good standing with the appropriate Mozambican and International Laws including terrorism regulations as defined by the United States and United Nations.
- Organizations with a presence/ operating in some or all of the municipalities listed below or at the national level.
- Past performance in one or more of the areas of focus stated below or related areas.
