Deadline: Ongoing
NextFifty Initiative has created a dedicated fund and will distribute up to $2,500,000 in grants to support organizations which have seen their operations greatly impacted by COVID-19.
NextFifty Initiative wants to do their part to help organizations providing needed services and supports to older adults during these uncertain times. The COVID-19 Response Fund will offer general operating support for Colorado 501(c)(3) nonprofits whose work primarily benefits older adults (those 50+) and any 501(c)(3) organization who has previously received funding from NextFifty Initiative in any state.
The purpose of the COVID-19 Response Fund is to address the needs of nonprofit organizations that primarily work with older adults.
Receiving a COVID-19 Response Fund grant does not preclude an organization from also receiving a grant through their General Funding, Community Response Fund, Collective Impact Challenge Grant, or Census 2020 Outreach Fund within the same year.
Funding Information
The COVID-19 Response Fund is intended for one-time, immediate general operating support that does not exceed 17% of the organization’s operating budget for a maximum of $25,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-profit entities based in Colorado, organized under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code and primarily serving adults 50 and older are eligible to apply for COVID-19 Response Fund grants. In addition, previously funded NextFifty Initiative 501(c)(3) organizations in any state may apply.
A fiscal sponsor is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides fiduciary oversight, financial management and other grant administrative services. A fiscal sponsor is held legally responsible for management of grant funds and obligations of the grant.
The fiscal sponsor must have a formal relationship with the entity carrying out grant activities and be able to exercise control over grant activities. NextFifty Initiative requires that the fiscal sponsor have a contractual relationship with the grant project partner and must possess a mission that clearly aligns with the activities of the grant.
Fiscal Sponsor relationships acceptable to NextFifty Initiative:
- An operating organization has not yet secured its own non-profit status but has a formal relationship with a non-profit entity which acts as a fiscal sponsor to manage grant oversight functions, including financial operations and grant fund management.
- An operating organization is too small to support full administrative functions and has a formal relationship with a non-profit entity which acts as a fiscal sponsor to manage grant oversight functions, including financial operations and grant fund management.
