Creative New Zealand is seeking applications for its Kava New Leaders Grants to support established practitioners of Pacific heritage arts to pass on their knowledge and skills to up to three potential new leaders in their artform.
Funding Information
$30,000 for up to two grants
Eligibility Criteria
- As an individual, applicants must be a New Zealand (NZ) citizen or permanent resident.
- NZ-based organisations can apply.
- If applicants are an overseas-based NZ artist or organisation they can apply. But their application must show direct benefit to NZ arts and they must have it endorsed by:
- NZ artist(s) currently resident in NZ and/or;
- NZ-based arts organisation(s) (must be well established).
- Applications can be made by:
- the senior heritage arts practitioner (mentor)
- the artist(s) being mentored
- a community group or arts organisation
- two individuals as a joint application.
- Either the senior heritage artist or the less experienced artist(s) must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
Project Eligibility
To be eligible for a Kava New Leaders Grant, the project:
- must start after 31 May 2019
- should take six to twelve weeks to complete
- must be managed by New Zealand citizens or residents with a Pacific Island heritage, i.e. an ancestral link to one of seven Pacific Island nations (Fiji, Samoa, Tuvalu, Tokelau, Tonga, the Cook Islands or Niue), or other Pacific Island nations (for example I-Kiribati, the Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Papua New Guinea).
