The Southwark Council is accepting applications for the Culture Together Grants to support arts and culture organisations to deliver projects that help Southwark’s cultural sector to be more inclusive and equitable, be more sustainable and recover from the impact of COVID-19.
Focus Areas
- This fund is for projects that celebrate equal representation in one of the following 4 areas.
- Audiences: For example, reaching new people or engaging specific participant groups
- Workforce: This could be staff training or recruitment
- Governance: For example, developing policy or recruiting trustees
- Artistic content: This includes commissioning artists, collaboration and programming
Funding Information
- There is up to £144,000 available in total.
- Organisations can apply for either a ‘small grant’ of £5,000 to £10,000 or a ‘big grant’ of £10,001 to £25,000.
What they will fund?
- Projects should aim to improve access to opportunities in culture for groups marginalised by race, gender, disability, or sexual orientation.
What they will not fund?
- They will not fund:
- one-off events
- capital costs like building works or equipment
- for-profit activities
- activities already supported by the Cultural Celebrations Fund or Neighbourhoods Fund
Eligibility Criteria
- They can only consider one application per organisation.
- To be eligible for the Culture Together grant your organisation must:
- be based in Southwark
- deliver arts, culture or creative activity as part of its core mission
- have governance documents and financial accounts that you can show them
- If your organisation is based outside the borough, consider working in partnership with an eligible Southwark-based organisation.
- Your project must:
- take place between Apr 2025 and Mar 2026
- be ongoing, rather than a one-off event
- not be for profit
- benefit Southwark residents (at least 50% of individuals your project will reach must be residents)
- focus on ‘change-making’ or ‘amplifying’ activities to help improve representation in the culture sector
- Note: Organisations receiving multi-year support as a loan from Southwark Council are not eligible.
