Applications for the CYTED 2024 Program are now open to provide funding for thematic networks involving research teams from at least six of the program’s member countries.
The CYTED Program has as its main objective to contribute to the harmonious development of the Ibero-American space through the establishment of cooperation mechanisms between research groups from Universities, R&D Centers and innovative companies from Ibero-American countries, which aim to achieve scientific and technological results transferable to production systems and social policies. It is a common instrument of the national Science and Technology Systems of the Iberoamerican Region, generating a platform that promotes and supports multilateral cooperation.
Projects must focus on one of the thematic lines established by CYTED – Ibero-American Program of Science and Technology for Development.
Objective and Scope of the call
- Thematic Networks
- They are research groups and companies from Latin America that work together to solve common problems from a local perspective.
- Its objective is to create a cooperative work framework that facilitates and catalyzes the generation of new activities related to R&D&I.
- The Thematic Networks aim to promote among groups:
- Stable and continued scientific interactions.
- Exchanges of scientific and technical knowledge of mutual interest.
- Synergistic strengthening and coordination of its R&D lines.
- Exchanges and mobility of research staff.
- Human resources training.
- Technical and methodological training.
- Preparation of proposals for possible Research Projects or IBEROEKA Innovation Projects.
- Actions of dissemination and technological transfer between different groups or entities, as long as they are technically, economically and commercially viable.

Funding Information
- The requested budget must not exceed the established maximum limit of €15,000 for the first year. Only the budget for the first year should be indicated and detailed on the application form.
- The maximum total duration of the proposal will be 4 years (48 months) and the budget for the second to fourth year will be a maximum of 20,000 euros per year.
- If there is additional co-financing, it will be essential to attach to the proposal a letter of commitment signed by the group or institution that is going to provide said financing, and in which it specifies the amount of the same and the concepts for which said co-financing will be allocated, and indicating whether they are additional resources or financing in kind.
- The contribution from the CYTED Program will cover up to 100% of the actual cost of the coordination activities defined in the proposal, provided that said expenses fall within the concepts eligible for aid listed in the following paragraph.
Concepts Subject to help
- The aid provided for in this Call for Thematic Networks will be used to cover the following concepts:
- Chapter 1: Coordination expenses (the maximum amount to be charged in this chapter is €1,500 for the first year).
- The system will not allow a higher amount to be requested in this chapter.
- Chapter 2: Coordinator mobility
- Chapter 3: Coordination meetings
- Chapter 4: Mobility of participating groups
- Chapter 5: Publications
- Chapter 6: Training (organization of courses, workshops, seminars and conferences)
The proposal should only specify the requested budget for the first year. If the proposal is approved for financing, the budget for subsequent years will be requested on an annual basis.
Eligibility Criteria
- Among the requirements for the formation of a Thematic Network, the following stand out:
- The Network must be made up of groups from at least 6 Ibero-American countries
- The member groups must accredit demonstrated capacity and activity in R&D&I actions.
- Both the coordinator’s group and each of the participating groups must be made up of more than one person and not just the coordinator or person in charge of each group.
- The coordinator must be a natural person belonging to entities of the types referred to below and that have headquarters in one of the following countries: Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain , Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
- Public R&D centers: public universities, public research organizations recognized as such by Law or any other R&D center dependent on public administrations, regardless of their legal form (consortium, foundation, etc.), and with demonstrated capacity and activity in R&D&I actions.
- Private R&D centers: universities, technology centers or other private entities with capacity and activity demonstrated in R&D&I actions.
- Public or private companies with demonstrated capacity and activity in R&D&I actions.
- Additionally, other institutions from third countries and international organizations may participate as partners. however, the cyted program will not finance the activities carried out by these institutions. Your participation in any of the planned activities will be conditional on the contribution of your own financing for it.
