The Foundation for the Development of Democracy invites applications for a sub-grant from non-governmental organizations and coalitions registered and operating in the Republic of Armenia, which aim to develop community-based, people-centered, and rights-based approaches to mental health in Armenia.
Specifically, the sub-grant aims to make effective and non-discriminatory community-based services available to people with mental health problems by implementing a multidisciplinary mobile mental health pilot service in the Ararat and Shirak regions of the Republic of Armenia. The service aims to provide comprehensive psychiatric and psychosocial support services to people who do not seek psychiatric care and services or cannot receive outpatient psychiatric care and services. Effective service delivery will improve people’s quality of life and reduce hospitalizations.
Objectives
- Possible types of actions that could be taken to achieve the project objective (the list below is indicative and not exhaustive):
- Create multidisciplinary mental health mobile services
- To promote the introduction and expansion of mobile pilot services in the regions of the Republic of Armenia
- Through research, existing data, and surveys, uncover information about people in need of mobile services and other psychosocial services, while maintaining the confidentiality of personal data.
- Organize training courses for multidisciplinary teams on providing mobile mental health pilot services
- Develop information and awareness-raising, user-friendly materials and implement campaigns targeting the wider population and vulnerable groups (particularly in Ararat and Shirak regions) with the aim of improving mental health literacy, reducing stigma, increasing public understanding of mental health, and documenting best practices for future policy and program development
- Promote exchange of experiences and cooperation between organizations/coalitions working in the field of mental health
- Contribute to the development of evidence-based guidelines for healthcare and related professionals on promoting mental well-being and preventing mental illness crises
- Use innovative approaches to ensure the right of people with mental health problems to live independently in the community
- Launch mental health helplines/hotlines to offer trained or professional support to populations with mental health issues
Funding Information
- As a result of the competition, two sub-grants, each worth 100,000 euros in AMD equivalent, will be awarded to two organizations. Each submitted project must be implemented in one region, either Ararat or Shirak. Each organization can submit one application per region.
- Project duration:
- Minimum: 12 months
- Maximum: 18 months
Expected Result
- As a result of the project implementation, it is expected that:
- Multidisciplinary mobile pilot teams have been established in the Ararat and Shirak regions of the Republic of Armenia, which provide effective and non-discriminatory psychosocial services to people with mental health problems.
- The problems of people with mental health problems living in the communities of the Ararat and Shirak regions of the Republic of Armenia are visible.
- The established multidisciplinary mobile pilot teams create a safe environment for people with mental health problems to speak out about their problems.
- Effective service delivery improves the quality of life of beneficiaries and reduces hospitalizations.
Ineligible Expenses
- Prohibited expenses during project implementation:
- Debts and debt service payments (interest) repayment
- Provision for losses or possible future liabilities
- Acquisition of land, real estate and movable property
- Foreign exchange losses
- Non-monetary contributions (excluding volunteer work)
- Bonuses included in personnel costs
- Loans to third parties
- Salaries of civil servants and deputies
Eligibility Criteria
- The following organizations can apply to the competition:
- are registered in the RA State Register and operate in Armenia
- are considered non-profit legal entities (public organizations, associations, foundations).
