The Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families is currently seeking applications for its program “Look Beneath the Surface Regional Anti-Trafficking Program”.
The primary purpose of the Look Beneath the Surface Regional Anti-Trafficking (LBS) Program is to increase the identification and protection of human trafficking victims in the United States, and to build local capacity to prevent human trafficking and protect its victims.
Purpose
The purpose of the Look Beneath the Surface Regional Anti-Trafficking (LBS) Program is to:
- Increase identification and referral of foreign and domestic victims of labor and sex trafficking through direct outreach to potential victims of human trafficking;
- Establish, support, or expand capacity in communities to prevent human trafficking and protect human trafficking victims;
- Develop and conduct public awareness efforts that support prevention strategies, inform the general public of the dangers of human trafficking, and identify the protections and resources available to victims of human trafficking; and
- Integrate and coordinate HHS’ anti-trafficking public awareness, training and technical assistance resources, and programs in the project strategies.
Objectives
The LBS Program has the following objectives:
- Develop comprehensive strategies to increase the identification of foreign and domestic victims of human trafficking, and their referral to services and support, through direct outreach and coordinated community efforts.
- Identify and deliver training and technical assistance on human trafficking and protections available for human trafficking victims. The trainings are for community-based organizations at the state and local levels that are not involved in the coalition.
- Lead or actively participate in a state, regional, or local anti-trafficking coalition to exchange information, establish protocols, and facilitate victim identification outreach efforts, promote demand-reduction strategies, and raise public awareness about human trafficking and available resources to assist victims.
- Increase public awareness about the prevalence, dangers, and prevention of human trafficking and resources available to assist victims of human trafficking.
